Building the DiZZi software is so cool, great work Simone

Like many times in the past with Elons smoke and mirrors, this will either never be delivered or will be completely watered down version of the marketed version.

The body was hollowed out

We can all tell

two canadian people

ive been following these folks for, i think maybe a decade. very cool.

Did they invent a colour here? What is Ube?

Ube is a purple yam. You might have seen it in Filipino food like halo halo, or various Instagram-worthy trendy ube-flavored purple foods.

It's the in thing just now for whatever reason. I see all the chain coffee shops are offering it. Next year it will be something else.

Not sure how coffee avoided the pickle trend, or maybe that's next

In seattle there is a restaurant downtown called Ludi's that serves ube pancakes that are a giant purple pile of goodness.

I wonder if there's a connection?

Ube has been a trendy ingredient in major markets for a couple of years now. It’s not just a Seattle thing.

I've seen it in a lot of Filippo restaurants too, even here in Barcelona. And Chinese shops. As it's usually eaten with milk I don't go for it but it's not bad apparently

Yes. I've noticed in chain coffee shops in the UK. Never heard of it until recently. I'm sure it will be something else soon.

probably, but just wondering because it was ~ 1 mile from amazon hq

Ube is a purple yam from the Philippines. Sweet and yummy. Naming makes sense here.

I live in Osaka, I did not know this existed so close by, I should go visit.

Surely considering the field he got the PhD in, hes in the safest field for job security regarding this.

It’s the opposite, ML is most dependent on excess compute.

Holy Kool-Aid.

I mean, Europe built ASML, for one.

Europe did not build ASML.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EUV_lithography

You can read the history and learn that the technology was developed almost entirely by the US government Department of Energy, Intel, IBM, and several Japanese companies.

ASML is an important company but it is largely just an integrator of tech and process IP licensed from several different countries.

That's why it has so many competitors, right?

There are no competitors because USA doesn't need a competitor since it already owns most of the technology and is merely licensing it to ASML for production. The EUV light source itself is entirely researched, developed, and produced in California, for instance.

The EUV LLC research was US-funded, agreed. But the light source is Cymer, which ASML has owned since 2013. Its drive laser is Trumpf (Germany), and the optics are Zeiss (Germany). Nikon and Canon had access to the same public research and dropped EUV. The US had GCA, Perkin-Elmer and SVG, and lost the market anyway. If integration were the easy part, someone else would have done it. You are underselling what it means to perfect the machines by calling it "just integrating".

By that logic SpaceX is a German company. Liquid-fuel rocketry was researched and developed at Peenemünde, and the US brought in von Braun's team wholesale to build its program. SpaceX just integrates German IP. Or Google is Swiss. The web was invented at CERN; Google is just an integrator of European tech. Or Apple Silicon is British. ARM was designed in Cambridge; Apple just licenses it.

There will probably be one within the next decade. My bets are on China.
