Do I understand correctly that Kagan has been working on his part for (more than) 40 years?

Reading Wikipedia it seems he also didn't win another Nobel because the max number of recipients is 3. It's not that unusual that people get the prize a loooong time after their actual work though.

I would assume that you're almost guaranteed to commute when you work as a builder. No WFH option either.

Flipping is working from home. I probably have 5 to 8 left in me.

Do you live in the houses that you flip? I don't think that this is a pattern I see around me.

I always wonder who the right audience is for this type of virtual environment for online meetings. And I am seriously curious because I am probably too old to relate to younger professionals these days, so I may be missing something that other may find fun.

Well, in my case I am more than glad to be missing on this fun is my point.

I think I wouldn't be able to function well in a work environment that had this kind of setup for their meetings on a regular basis, it would feel very draining to me.

I would be certainly open to it infrequently, or as an opt-in, but if the workplace moves towards this direction I know I would struggle.

I think it gets worse during their early teens when most of the socializing these days seems to be phone/app-driven. I hope they'll keep the habit going.

Hah! I'm usually guilty of not reading the (entire) article before coming here to read the comments, which usually give me a good indication if the article is worth reading. But this time I read it all before coming here because like so many of the people here, it's hitting too close to home at many levels.

First of all, I've only heard this from software engineers.

Second of all, most of us haven't worked on the software that send people to space or similar. We unfortunately only move data from one place to another.

People wrote production code after 6-months of boot camp. Writing code is easy. (Quality, scalability etc. are the harder parts).

Part of this is captured with this famous quote:

"The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads." - Jeff Hammerbacher

So the insult is probably to a negligible fraction of programmers.
