You mean the guy whose concerts went on as planned, and the online slacktivists screaming literal baby murderer at him have already moved on to the next $thing?
Way back in junior high school our teacher showed us Adolf Hitler's speeches. Do you think she was actually a secret nazi preying on impressionable youths?
The Stack Overflow generation pulled up the ladder a decade ago, and now that they have already "made it" they can spend all day writing romanticized takes about how great their little club really was.
Meanwhile, the rest of us still have work to do and can't spend all day arguing with strangers on the internet. Not all even speak English at all.
These fees were sucessfully lobbied in the media as a "Temu tax", and even reputable state broadcasters continue to refer to it as a "junk fee". However, it applies indiscriminately to everything from a decades old vintage book purchased from the UK, or spare parts to restore electronics ordered from Japan.
Its a barrier to competition (what people here like to call a moat) that favours big business and mainstream products over small business and niche products.
Exactly. I live in Finland bought an educational English grammar for kids book for my son 2nd hand from a private seller for 4 euros with 4 euros shipping from the UK. The final cost after all fees was was around 25 euros. It's not just for junk it's for everything. It's an Amazon subsidy (should have used amazon.de).
eBay? For some reason the customs fee they quote for shipments from the UK is ridiculously high - often over 10€ for a similarly priced item and not just the 3€ line item minimum plus change. It's ridiculous when UK->Germany shipments are often more than twice the price of US->Germany shipments.
The internet is a dangerous place and some people will be dicks even if you aren't making any money. Most hosts will show you the door the someone puts their crosshairs on you. Some small businesses like gaming are disproportionately effected.
The vast support for Tidal in these discussions is pretty baffling. The whole thing is just an abandoned Jack Dorsey side hustle. Basic things like gapless playback don't work. Playback on dodgy connections is spotty. I have my own fair share complaints of Spotify UX but it actually works as a music player anywhere and everywhere.
