do you have data on no new jobs/tax revenue?

Look at your local megascale datacenter on Google Maps satellite view. How many parking spots does it have? How many of those parking spots are occupied? Are you seeing hundreds of cars, or is it just the mandatory pair of security guards and maybe a remote hands technician or three?

The tax breaks are well-established in the media, see for example [0].

The taxable income is generated remotely from the location of the physical data centre.

That’s the root of the problem.

Even if the data centre raises billions in revenue and pays billions in taxes, that isn’t paid to any government entity close to where the building is.

The locals get replaced by machines, the revenue is pocketed far away.

It’s the equivalent of big mining companies “investing” into mine automation in some developing country. The locals do not benefit!

Yeah I am going to be honest if Google was a Dutch company they would bulldoze houses for them. They do it for ASML. But it is an American company and nobody likes them. The Netherlands, for all it's faults, is still too dignified to become a US colony.

>They do it for ASML.

Who then refuse to sell their machines to anyone except some Taiwanese company.

They say no one is buying.

It comes in about 0.2-0.3 people per MW, but as the size rises the number of people per MW reduces.

So, a 100MW DC will have about 20-30 people and a 1GW campus will be 200-300 people.

Those numbers can be boosted if the site has a significant non-operational support staff such as security and cleaning. But a significant part of security us heavily automated, to the point where when Meta had a major network failure they couldn't get on-call support staff into the facilities to fix the issue because the security doors were linked to the main network.

You can’t collect tax revenue by giving away tax breaks worth almost the entirety of the taxes that would otherwise be collected. This is particularly common in the the gulf south - see Louisiana with Hyperion, which also has been an absolute disaster of a construction project (deaths, school can’t operate, all kinds of violations and damage) and is estimated to produce double digit jobs.

I’m under the impression that most data centers have very few staff on site, almost zero.

Sure, some temporary jobs during construction, but I bet it’s nothing like a retail store or factory in operation…

As for taxable revenue, how does that help the community beyond property tax assessments?

codex is already great.. cursor is just a competing harness

codex growth at 20mill now, prob more cost effective to allocate that compute to people directly paying now

I think this is dated. I wonder if the author has tried codex/other harnesses

what token/s?

27 t/s. I suspect there will be significant speed ups in the coming weeks.

You should be getting way more than that on a 6000 pro even today. I'm getting 40tok/s on a pair of 3060s. You can ask a SOTA model to optimize your setup for you.

Getting 30 t/s on a Mac M5 Max laptop. You should be getting close to 200 if you can use the 5090 acceleration tools I see posted here. There are forks for the 4090 and the 3090. Maybe there's a fork for the 6000?

I'm seeing the exact same number on my Blackwell box. MTP put it at almost 70 which is pretty decent

Any idea why it’s so slow? the entire model should fit in the vram of one card.

The NVFP4 quant is completely broken, so I'm not shocked that other quants aren't fully there yet. Give it some time to cook.

how are you paying for tokens with this setup + what harnesss + how many tokens/day are you consuming?

didnt the model 3x in size?

no, they said the model is still 1.5T size. Next one 4.7 is supposed to be bigger.
