Nuclear weapons aren’t that good an analogy, AI is closer to biological weapons.

Tradies will buy poorly maintained houses and fix them up.

ChatGPT will tell everyone else (who cares to do it) how to do the same thing. It's not hard.

As a software guy who’s worked alongside trades for the past 15 years, ChatGPT can tell you some of the tricks but the know-how comes from hands-on experience. I’ve lost count of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up from watching and talking to those guys.

And sell them to... ?

The problem isn’t that AI will social-engineer its way out of its sandbox and turn us all into paper clips, it’s that we’ll drag it kicking and screaming out of its box and order it to make money or fight a war for us. And it’ll try to help, as it was trained to.

Same, that was my introduction to ‘tech culture’.

Wow, what a ride! Thanks for sharing, you must have some amazing stories to tell over a beer or two.

By the time you get C&D’d it would be far too late.

I’d spend a while thinking about it but I know what my immediate impulse would be.

Clearly men are the problem, if their minds are so easily warped. /s

No one said they were easily warped, just possible to warp.

Porn, this comment, and grass blowing in the breeze all can warp the minds of women, and nonbinary individuals, as well.

Re-reading the whole thread, you make a good point. I agree.

If you mean a physical light, you can buy light switches and coloured bulbs from a hardware store.

So… that kind of sorcery, I guess.

If you have a bit of time to learn the skills, it’s economical to design a custom board even for 5-10 units. An integrated controller module like an ESP32 can basically just be plonked onto a board with a voltage regulator and used like an Arduino.
