It's funny, I appreciate DX and HR because they are still obviously video games at their core, jank and affordances galore. MD just felt like they wanted to go all in on realism and inverse-kinematics and cover mechanics and such so it felt like any other hyper-realistic modern shooter.

I loved the gold filter for HR, for another example. I know I am probably in the minority.

An advantage of this approach is that everyone's screen readers and other accessibility tools actually work with your app.

They left the targeting checkboxes all unchecked. Basically an intern wrote a free check to Google.

I would rather read a write up of someone doing just that. This exact thing has been done many times now and no one is really learning or demonstrating anything new. It is cool, insofar as AI tools are capable of reverse-engineering, mechanical translation, and automatic verification, but it is no longer _novel_ and borders on spam.

It looks like they are attacking the "leaker" instead of addressing the leaked issues? They clearly don't refute that Andy actually did tell employees to stop writing code and to ship faster with AI, and they don't refute the "loser" comment. It looks like damage control through shit-stirring and a poor attempt at a Gish gallop.

You have left out the second half of the sentence, "... by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries."

The position taken by the courts and the administration is that "authors and inventors" means "human". The monkey could not be the author of its own selfie photograph, for instance.

Maybe this doesn't reflect the intentions of the Framers, but it certainly should color any modern discussion surrounding the purpose of copyright law.

I also notice it doesn't say anything about their heirs. I wonder if there is a meaningful argument that copyright extending beyond the life of the original author is unconstitutional.

Likewise corporations are not humans, so they shouldn't be able to own copyrights either.

Are you just arguing that corporations should not be able to own copyrights but it is OK for them to own other things such as land and equipment, or are you arguing that corporations should not be allowed to own anything?

"Intellectual Property" is not, or at least should not, be the same as physical property. Copyrights and patents are temporary artificial, government enforced monopolies to incentivise creativity and publication of the results of that creativity. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that a corporation can't own the copyright itself. Although, they should still be able to hold a license to works from the actual human creators, and granting such a license could be a condition of employment (provided it was created as part of the employment, and not, say, on the employees own time).

Pretty sure you need actual knowledge of a planned crime for that to stick. But I'm also sure the defense will be expensive.

I'm not sure but if negligence is punishable too for facilitation, it should stick, right? I think it's reasonable to expect that most buyers of exploits try to use them in illegal ways (or are feds acting like that to catch you).

They won't have to get you for facilitating the later crime, they can get you for testing the exploit on your own account, which is also a crime since OpenAI's computer system is involved.

I am sure this is a crime, but what crime?

Nuclear is great at replacing gas-fired power stations, which has a few costs that are not included in the price.

Gas is dispatchable, nuclear is not. It’s enormously expensive, and that expense is locked in whether you need the power or not.

We’re already in a situation where we have more power than we need during certain hours of the day in some states/countries, and that’s not even counting the massive, accelerating buildout that will happen between now and the years before new nuclear is built… even it was started today.

Gas is used as backup in a grid dominated by cheap renewable. High capex sources like nuclear are a poor replacement.

The market is not an expert and does not trust experts.
