> What I find much worse than someone talking directly to an LLM is when you are communicating with another human and they respond with LLM.
And what's even worse than that is when they don't know what they're talking about, and launder their ignorance through an LLM. Then you get vapor laundered to look like a thoughtful and considered response.
The tool is getting blamed here when it's people that are using it that are at fault.
When McDonald's uses 10s cooked patties with plastic and craft materials to make their fotos it isn't exactly any different then when a restaurant AI generates pictures of their menu's. The Burger at McDonald's has never looked like the pictures nor will it ever.
It's a choice the owner has and if they oversell expectations it's on them to deal with the consequences. At some point it also becomes fraud.
From what I recall talking to a photographer, the burger is all actual ingredients. They push everything to the front and angle the shot so it looks bigger than it is. That’s why you just see buns when you get yours, all the ingredients are in the center. But it’s possible to recreate the same pic with enough time and attention to detail. Lighting makes a huge difference as well.
Mcdonalds imagery at least matches the ingredients of the food actually being served, if i see a burger joint with a generic ChatGPT burger i have no idea if they actually have pickles on them or not
i saw an image for a 4 way power extension for sale that look like it was made by MC Escher the other day. it would be simpler to just take a photo of the actual product rather than hallucinating an impossible thing.
A ton of people in Switzerland use revolut and where effected. Why people still use Revolut as their primary bank is beyond me. Not a "bank" I trust especially after what I have heard and seen.
They have been shocklingly competent for international transfers. Most things just work through the app, and the few cases where I had to deal with support it went so smoothly that I assumed the support agent was bullshitting me and I'd hit a wall later (I didn't). Exactly the opposite experience of what I'd expect from a "neobank" and much better than "real" banks.
Even the KYC process the first time I was making a larger transfer was surprisingly smooth.
Currency exchange fees/spread with "classical" banks are absolutely prohibitive.
Yeah I have one for Frigate on a Raspberry Pi. Has worked well but definitely showing its age performance wise. I got a cheap mini PC (right before prices like quadrupled) which has about the same performance on an iGPU). I wouldn't be surprised if Frigate was the funnel for like 90% of Coral purchases or more.
> The thing that they showed off isn't something that they could legally sell
The cybertruck is for sale and FSD is active in the US. The US lets automakers "self-certify" that they are safe. So although I don't think this thing should ever be sold, it may end of on US roads.
I'd repeat the question, according to who is this even likely a materially different car? Why does a wheel cap mean it's a different car? You could make this argument by pointing to literally any difference, like a sticker - it doesn't add an credibility to it.
Please show us the math on wheels and tires and battery and electric motor that would make a car go 0 to 60 in 0.8 seconds and weighs under 500 pounds.
It only has to do it once. Ie it only needs 0.8 seconds of battery. If you think you are looking at a real production car I’ve got a 2017 Tesla roadster to sell you.
All 4 wheels and tires on modern teslas are a combined 200+ pounds. The roadster has massive tires and guaranteed they weigh more.
For current performance motors, they each weigh between 100 and 150 pounds. It's very likely the roadster ones will weigh more.
The "gearbox" equivalent is about 200 pounds on modern teslas, and again the roadster will need a beefier one.
So literally just the essentials of motors and wheels and "gearbox" is now at a bare minimum of 600+ pounds. This isn't including the actual frame and structure itself, the battery, the wiring and electronics, and literally the entire vacuum/cold gas system.
I would like anyone to comment how the demo unit could possibly be under 500 pounds "guaranteed".
