Obsidian is the exact "or build an entirely separate app" that they said. It's an app just for Markdown

Which is a very high value gift in our culture

Managing apps via group policy is painful

It's honestly horrifying how many website just don't bother.

Like w3, the makers of the web accessibility checklist have a flash-bang of a website and noone appears to have cared enough to fix it

What are the reasons why you want dark mode so badly?

I think the “flash bang” comment gives you a pretty good, convincing idea of why this is sorely needed.

To take advantage of oled and local dimming displays, for example.

Thank you for not caring about my battery.

Not OP but I have an unusual investment in preventing my eyeballs from being stabbed repeatedly until they bleed.

Because there are different people - many of them like using dark mode.

Truthful descriptions of products are so last century

Because of weightings around other things you aren't going to get a 1:1 50% of input code used node so it uses node 50% of the time. There's enough randomness and other stolen content to (in theory) bias it towards weird outputs/choices

> The only thing that donation could pay for is marketing e.g. events and meetups.

You do realise there's an insanely large gap in-between "everyone is a volunteer" and "everyone is full-time staff", right?

> it is a strong evidence that the freezer can be remotely controlled globally

As per the article that's literally a selling feature

GitHub Actions, GitHub Auth, any hard coded GitHub URLs you use, GitHub's nice REST API.

They do have a bunch of value adds, it just depends on which you use

gitea/forgejo both do an 80% job of covering these needs, ime. they have mostly-GH-compatible APIs.

are you a paying customer?

right so basically moving upmarket, upselling around a core idea.

C-suites barely had a grip on reality before AI came in and started yes and-ing everything :(

It's really going to be a top-down destruction of everything

C-suites have no grip on reality, because their subordinates are afraid of telling them truth. The subordinates just want to look better in the boss's eyes, and are afraid to be replaced.

The more levels the org chart has, the more pronounced the effect may be.

Understandable, who can afford to risk their livelihood just to tell a dumbass he's being a dumbass :p it's not like the C-suites will listen anyway

Pretend for a second that you're in a position of trying to run a successful business. Congrats, you're a c-suite executive now. Of course, you are free to define "successful" by whatever criteria you want, but not going bankrupt probably needs to be downstream of them.

Notice that whatever your goals are, they don't automatically serve the interests and per concerns of all your employees. Are you now delusional, evil, ruled by greed?

Running a smooth operation mostly just makes for really boring news. You should perhaps factor in survivorship bias of narratives into your views of the world.

death by a thousand hyperboles

There are plenty of people that are illogical, as in their ideas are not self consistent.

There are plenty of people that are self consistent, but just wrong. You could say their logic makes sense to them, but not to everyone else.
