OpenCode Go is the best thing they have going. Pi is the way to go for coding harnesses, IMHO. But despite all the BS messaging, something like glm-5.3-flash on $10/month OpenCode Go plan is a great deal if they have a Come to Jesus moment about security and do a bit of team attitude adjustment.

"but all my opencode keys were deactivated in tbe process"

Similarly woke up this morning to find my OpenCode Go API key had been revoked (remaining monthly usage allowance fortunately not touched).

Whether that was precautionary or is evidence of wider data leak, who knows?

Concur that OC's X messaging is mostly 'Marketing by Sounding off like a Dick' and they're certainly not known for having the best documentation either.

Yeah, I didnt observe any unauthorized usage either, im just curious as to why you need to invalidate your users native platform keys.. Why would these be accessible to anyone, sounds like they have poor security hygiene.

Disappointed that it's missing name of a yacht or catamaran I once saw on trailer parked by roadside in 1980s Queensland:

Blue E. Zarzoff

DS comes out (one of, or) the most successful quant fund in China.

They don't strictly need any kind of subsidies.

FWIW they have a funding round planned (kerfuffle about leaks from CEO presentation few weeks back) -- presumably because infrastructure needs have ballooned.

Naturally there will be some PRC government interest in one of their flagship AI companies. From what is visible seems to be more along the lines of ensuring that DS gets its fair share of resources -- e.g. Xi Jinping meeting founder and positive comments about success of DS means that (hypothetically) Alibaba can't screw DS too much on infra charges to kill off a 'competitor'. Also would imagine that DS's top guys have been clearly identified and will have been 'discouraged' from going to work for one of the SV polycules. But even here as much carrot as stick -- none of the DS top guys will ever need to work again except for love of the job.

You understand how these two sentences directly contradict each-other, yeah? The money-losing operating of training a model is paid for by momey earned from prior investments. So… the work is “subsidized” by its parent company’s investments in it.

Are these tippy top-secret Skunkworks Final Boss Wunderwaffen with you in the room right now?

More and more there seems to be some wishful thinking that the USA has another hidden generation of SR-71 or Stealth tech type surprises squirrelled away for a rainy day. Find this hard to believe when the best brains of the generation got hoovered up by hedge funds, click merchants, and now token slingers.

Is there anything to stop the Chinese doing a silicon photonics end run independent of cracking EUV at scale? Or is getting EUV right first on the critical path? This part is a genuine question.

There are a lot of very very very smart people working in defense. Gov doesn't pay the best but the benefits are unmatched.

afaik no one is working in defence anymore; now they are working in war

Workplace metrics and surveillance... What could possibly go wrong?

That being said, more than one (female at that) doctor has told me in confidence and based upon their observations during residencies, etc. that if I'm ever admitted, be very careful how I modulate my interactions with nurses. They're not all Florence Nightingale and Mother Theresa and there exist those who will @#$% you up on various pretexts or are just plain sloppy and negligent.

Despite all the moralising fluff, it's just a job, not some saintly vocation. Some safety oversight is needed, just as it is for any other work function. Still, can bet that anything 'Corporate' has mandated will be Goodharted up the wazoo.

  > Mother Theresa
off topic perhaps, but i would hope they were not like mother teresa at all [0]

Yea. She's seen as a devil where i live

Since we're off-topic, most of the information in that article (as it's often the case) is based mostly on Christopher Hitchen's work (book and documentary), a man who describes himself as "antitheist" and made a living out of publicly fighting religion. So not exactly an objective reporter.

I read a good chunk of the criticism against Mother Theresa as either willfull misunderstanding and/or just repeating the same literal three quotes from Hitchen's book (seriously, they're always there). I cannot say whether she was a good person or not, but I can say: if you ask "which evidence is there which doesn't lead back to a man with a personal vendetta?", the list gets significantly shorter.
