This was foreseeable. We all know it. We all know why. Yet we fail to do anything about it.

It's happening in other countries as well. Any suggestions what could be done about it?

Turn off all social media and organize around shared beliefs/interests

It's not just social media, it's all solo entertainment - streaming, cable, 24 hour news, video games, everything.

They’ll have to turn off our “offline” solo hobbies too—whether it’s gardening, making art, reading, puzzles, crafts, or whatever else.

I think turning off all social media would help if others do that as well but as an individual action it's likely to cut you off even more.

Easy. Reduce our use of technology and stop consuming so much. It will require you to lower your standard of living.

Is your partner willing to do this with you? Probably not.
