Bezos i dont think is in the same bucket as gates. If you read about it, he was blackmailed for cheating and said f it and that is how his wife found out. Even then, he seems to be into…older women if his new wife is anything to go by.
Both of Bezos' wives are 6 years younger than him (he's 62 and both MacKenzie Scott and Lauren Sánchez are 56). Their ages are only noteworthy for being so completely not noteworthy for a rich guy. It seems like he has age-appropriate taste in women.
iirc, it originally was gonna be of himself but he changed it because that looked a bit too…on the nose.
I think the wife hates it.
Many of those with options see it as a badge of pride to stay loyal. One of those, ya I could if I wanted to but hey look I have self control…most of the time.
Yes? 30-60 is night and day so i have a hard time believing this.
There is an argument to be made on battery life 60-120 but my god i can instantly tell between 60-120. The key part is the input responsiveness more than anything else. If you tell someone to look at “frame rate” few will notice the dif but have them grab a window and wiggle it around, obv dif with responsiveness
Too true. Even on the software side i see people blindly “claude make it faster with no mistakes” and gushing about it when the output is genuinely not good not because claude isnt good but because the user of it isnt.
We got a new a CNC machine and everyone is carving away marveling at how easily it chips away at metal when the result is a jagged mess.
It is most impactful in tech because tech is almost nothing but languages and more so super expensive languages where one hour of an “authors” time can cost thousands with a supply demand issue so bad workers are imported from across the world.
Artists were already starving. The more physical trades are…physical not language so a plumber still plums. Maybe now they ask gemini instead of google tho.
Areas related most to…language are the most impact by large language models? The one that i think is just as impacted is education because it is also almost all language driven.
I see zero sign of any of the new mills coming around. Steel, crops, farming, none of it has changed and what little has is from…the software side or…language.
The SV world really over indexes on how much software can do.
Look all of the progress in robotics. Companies like Physical Intelligence etc. There has been massive progress in all sorts of areas from picking strawberries to assembling kits, folding clothes, etc.
Huge progress in spatial understanding with frontier models now building architecture and complex mechanical systems in Blender.
If you think plumbing is anywhere near being automated away you must not know much about plumbing. You will never see a bigger hodpodge of materials and fittings in so many shapes and sizes and states of decay.
Maybe on new builds with fresh material, but that is already the easiest and quickest plumbing task.
An entry level largely untrained junior doing pro level work because their AR headset and earpiece tells them exactly what to do next? That's possible today.
But nobody wants or pays for "pro level" plumbing work. Just like the majority of construction, speed and minimum viability are king, quality is the last consideration. Especially for plumbing where it all gets covered up. If something leaks in 20 years instead of 40, plumbers don't lose anything. But the plumber who put in extra effort and time does.
Many skilled tradesmen have already left the industry because higher skill levels have little value, and their labor value is just barely above grabbing randos off the street. AI at best is saving a minute of evaluation or google search, but 99.5% of the job is physical work and pain still, not high level problem solving.
Hahahaha absolutely not. There's a lot of carefully staged demos that are good for separating the gullible from their money, but we are nowhere near anything you're talking about.
GPT-2 was nowhere near being able to create web pages. It was largely incoherent. But three years later gpt-3.5 and similar were able to create simple web pages and programs and became very popular. And a few years after that, only a small portion of software engineers generally write code by hand still.
Humanoid robotics may progress faster than that because they are building on existing AI. But it will be capable of some plumbing work within a few years.
The robotics structure, dexterity and sensors are already 90-95% there in leading edge humanoids. What makes it able to be a plumber or not are the machine learning models, which are usually built with transformers (VLAs -- vision language actions models), often include frontier VLMs or models with the same architecture as a top level control, and use the same or very similar types of reinforcement learning for training.
As much as this is a bit of a shit post I dont think it is wrong. Both sides behind the scenes are in pretty strong lockstep.
Thered need to be changes in how lobbying and certain countries are registered to make a dent. Everyone says age but I dont think that matters as much as the lobbying industry. Young people are every bit as corruptible as the old.
The world is large. I will say what I used to say when people complained about how awful dating was pre social media, if you are shopping at a bar, it is like shopping in the gutter, you may find a gem but more often it is shit.
There are alot of women who want kids but they likely are not in the pool you engage with. Go to a conservative US christian state, join a church, engage with the community, it is easy. I bet the issue is that you do in fact have a standard and that standard is the barrier.
If it helps, almost every wealthy man i have known engaged with escorts or prostitutes at some point so I wouldnt view it as shameful and who knows, you may learn something about yourself in the process.
> Go to a conservative US christian state, join a church
While this strategy can work, it also means your kids will likely be taught hell is a real place most of humanity will go to suffer in eternal flames. (Possibly from a very young age.) Does not help with mental health.
Red states also have quite a lot of racism, IME. So be sure to be at least passing as white and with little or no accent.
> I bet the issue is that you do in fact have a standard and that standard is the barrier.
Among the guys I've known this seems to be the biggest factor. Of course ladies have their own expectations. Everyone seems to relax them as they get older.
As someone who knows something in the space he brags about, it is fascinating to see the dunning kruger effect in realtime here. Even with all those claudes in “adversarial review”.
Realtime soft lighting is possible on mobile but if he had known that, i bet claude woulda been able to do it but he didnt.
If there was even the speckle of curiosity, he would have asked beyond “dont make mistakes” but i guess he was too busy riding his bike while burning 50k to make a blog.
Personally, I am stunned at how fast - and autonomously - you can get to a very decent 80/20 result with AI these days. And since Opus 5.5 was released I really think it hit another level.
As an example, this was a "silly" one-shot prompt/result I created/received, which goes into a similar direction of what Felix created in terms of UX and aesthetics:
Sure it lacks the finish and attention to detail. But this was one prompt (vs. 60 threads).
Thoughts: I find this both exciting and a bit unsettling. Idea-to-product time in tech just keeps shrinking and shrinking. I feel limited by my own ideas now (1), and by the fact that everything still remains "digital" - ChatGPT still can't build me a house or fix my broken knee (2).
Unlike others, the issue I have is not using AI to have fun and be creative, I do it all the time like a one off table top character sheet tool.
It is the claim that the 60 agents produced competent optimized code when the response here clearly shows that is not the case. But I can excuse ignorance when someone is learning but there was no learning here. There was no interest in learning anything more than “i like that, no not that, make it run better”.
Then this bold claim about how creativity has somehow fundamentally changed because they found a new kind of ink for their printer. Sure kid.
Sure, I guess it was "just" a case study in how excessively far you can take your idea (or "taste") by supplementing and supercharging it with agents.
IMO the interesting part with this capability now (undoubtedly?) is to find the right applications/problems to solve... and yeah, why not every now and then have some fun and go full overkill with your personal website :-)
I agree about what you mean with the dunning kruger effect. A similar effect is when I work with AI in a field where I don't know as much, and I would think that the AI works much better there or even has more than expert knowledge. So I do not (necessarily) overestimate myself, but the AI's capabilities, which can be as dangerous for society.
(Note that latest research shows that the dunning kruger effect might only be a statistical artefact.)
Realtime soft lighting is possible but at what cost, for such static scene? I think the light bake technique he used is, in fact, the appropriate way to get beautiful visual results with the upside of good performance in any hardware. It's curious to say Dunning Kruger effect when I do believe the decision reached is possibly conscious about the performance shortcomings of bouncing light in real time
Once you open pandoras box, you dont put it back in. It doesnt matter what age.
The whole, they didnt get enough when younger, sounds like a very strange weird explanation that falls flat when you think for more than 5s about it.
