The actual control is with the "Board of Governors" which is a government agency (ie. the president controls them, subject to approval by the US senate). The banks structure is to make banks cooperate, it does not give them any kind of control over anything.
Way more people complain about this too, if you pay attention to all the US inflation and national debt anxieties. It’s clearly unsustainable and driving interest rates up steadily.
People complain about the imbalance between economy supply and economy demand leading to inflation and debt concerns.
The complaint isn’t that the economy is “circular”, how else could it work with 3 or more people engaged in commerce? Neither of those things get fixed on different ways to manage the money supply either, it’s not as if they didn’t have national debts or inflation while on the gold standard.
It’s just a different format. Providing liquidity in the hope that more is generated from the economy. Except it’s doing more harm than good other than in true crisis. Other times it’s just creating a bubble, in national debt and in AI.
I haven’t run into any such coupons, but have heard this complaint about how Amazon as poisoned online retail, holding sellers hostage, countless times now.
That's not what diversity means. I agree there's no browser choice on iOS.
Choice is what the individual (supposedly) has. Diversity is what actually exists across an ecosystem. iOS is the last bastion of browser diversity, because despite all this supposed "choice", it's pretty much all Chrome everywhere else.
Who is vals.ai and why they keep submitting eye-catching claims. A few weeks ago they said fable 5.1 solved some obscure cipher and now opus 5.5 found room temperature semiconductor candidates. Meanwhile they seem to be in the business of making benchmarks.
It's an evals platform. The problem is to promote evals in scientific domains you need to actually know something about them. Otherwise you end up with slop like this.
Half a million loc to do the basics feels like highly inefficient. Pi 1.0 also turn on the “fullscreen” tui by default… it’s becoming more and more like opencode.
