If you tell me I should OpenCode over Claude Code in October 2026 - then you have no idea what you are talking about.

OpenCode + DeepSeek V4.1 Flash Uncensored on Venice AI is truly incredible. Granted, I have it also drive an interactive claude code session in tmux and just do everything Claude Code refuses to. But, it just gets shit done. Kind of what makes Instinct so powerful, don't tell me you won't do something, just get it done.

Venice AI just seems completely sketchy though.

They have what seems good prices, but then you realize the "Pro" plan only includes "Pro" models, not "Advanced" and there is no list of what is what.

So you Google and find the Reddit conversations where it turns out hardly anything is included.

Interesting on Instinct, I have to often tell it "just do it"

What if I'm trying to bypass the security monitor built-into CC?

I wish you would explain your reasoning instead of preemptively telling people they don't know what they're talking about. Then I might actually learn something.

Aside from the opus5.5/fable + sub-lockin arguement...

Building an exceptional harness requires exceptional understanding of the technology you are harnessing.

Ant is building Claude Code in a place of frontier knowledge and advancement - everything surrounding the tool at Anthropic is something that does not exist within any "open source" organization. OC has recruited exceptional developer and new-media talent, but they have largely developed from a "catchup/copy" and designer-led process, and have consistently been behind in terms of capabilities and/or have misaligned implementation due to what I would classify as disadvantages of not understanding the underlying technology fully. I think this has led to a lot of unintended bloat - maintaining a plugin for it has been consistently very head-scratching experience.

- Pi was a refreshing welcome to the OSS arena with thoughtful design to enable simplicity and ecosystem-based development

In October 2026 - Claude Code feels further stretched ahead. The orchestration/projects model you get with sub agents either in the cloud/remote or local is the strongest capability I have experienced in awhile. Beyond the model intelligence the harness has been consistently refined and now includes things like Mods for robust customization. OC is pushing through big milestone release, not advancing on the front in terms of agentic engineering ux. Who came up with MCP, Slack/Claude Tag interface paradigm (less about slack), dynamic workflows, durable subagents, agent-to-agent communication across the harness, etc

What's your reasoning? What makes Claude Code better? Genuinely curious to learn.

say more, what do you think CC does better?

Im not sure how they would know, they're clearly using a singular harness.

I actively use all harnesses and maintain popular plugins across them

> I actively use all harnesses

Several perhaps, but you definitely aren't using all coding harnesses actively.

I was genuinely asking because I think all harnesses are largely replaceable. They all are building the same thing.

I have used cc, oc, pi, shelley and codex fwiw

What are discussions?

Apologies, discussions on Github

Iroh released something similar awhile back

https://www.iroh.computer/sendme

Sendme and iroh-blobs author here.

Sendme is a demo for iroh and a very useful standalone tool, but it is more about quick ad-hoc transfers.

I think flipflop is using iroh-blobs for data transfer, so you can think about it as like sendme but with permanent connections.

Ok nice find! Did you try it?

I dont have that problem with opus5.5. I dont even take the screenshots anymore (it does all screen recordings)... I tell it a simple narrative and it follows through. e.g. https://x.com/plannotator/status/2108589088139886769?s=20

AI is a tool. And I don't see the point of this argument other than a bit of a `boomer rant` , as someone who sort of fanboyed rich, like many on HN, earlier in my career.

AI is becoming critical infrastructure. Laws will follow. Ie similar to ISP/communication infrastructure laws

With this logic, ISPs should be monitoring all texts and internet traffic. Might as well extend an open line to the gov’t to ensure it escalates even more appropriately and faster

I sometimes think about how norms have changed. People are more neurotic and more longing for safety than before. If the Internet was invented today, it would likely work that way. (Though another aspect is that when the Internet was invented it was simply technologically impossible to do a deep semantic scan of messages.)

Similar thing is that I believe if motorcycles were invented today they would most certainly be banned from the road due to their safety properties.

There needs to be a balance. It feels off, today & consequences of future, that technology has led to the collapse of privacy.

And as we progress we will need to rationalize what it means for private companies, AI, to know everything about you and for the government to have a tap into that. I hope balance lands in favor of things like privacy preserving underpinning.

Government would have to explicitly ban companies from surveilling, but they are fully incentivized to want the opposite: government naturally wants maximum amount of info to have the most agency, to know what's going on, to be prepared for any threats to itself, to make sure things are running smooth, that taxes are being paid, that regulations are being followed etc.

AI ≠ internet connection.

Google also monitors your searches, it’s to be expected that an AI lab will know all your prompts, they aren’t providing a paid service for free out the good of their heart. lol.

>it’s to be expected that an AI lab will know all your prompts, they aren’t providing a paid service for free out the good of their heart. lol.

Er. When you actually pay, at least Anthropic gives you an option to not use your prompts in their training data.

Why should we not treat AI like critical infrastructure

a less intelligent decision is not "more reliable"

You still have to orchestrate these things and the wholistic system architectures, pull the slot machine handle many times to get the right thing, and review/verify the working output constantly.

That said, I think we need to be prepared for how a simple prompt like "make it faster" will work in a relatively short timeframe - and where the AI is able to adequately refactor/re-platform/be done in a way where even the architecture becomes obscure to us.

I often use simple prompts like “make it faster” and get back functionally correct commits. When I review them, I often discover that they didn’t do what I really wanted - sometimes Claude made it faster by incurring expensive costs, or doing a migration that would be risky in prod, or making a tradeoff that’s not worth it.

Perhaps I could set up a workflow to handle this without reading the code. I’ve seen people who make Claude fill out arcane templates, and then spend their time reviewing reports and tinkering with loops or whatever. But why would I want to read a TPS report about the code rather than just reading the code?

Idk what adom is, but somewhat related I had jev play poker and it was abysmal. https://backnotprop.com/blog/jev-poker/

Sorry, sometimes I forget not everyone is me;p

Hmm,where do you think jev could fit?
