You learn along the way by finding something you want done, never giving up.
I want to build a robot that does one simple thing - follow my voice and deliver something to it's original location. That means I need to learn batteries and power loads, electronics, audio processing, directional acoustics, more programming, soldering, and a half dozen other things.
AI + deep thinking about the problem.
The goal is not the objective but to learn everything along the way.
Short-sightedness is quite literally the reason people are using these systems to begin with. If you care about the health and integrity of your code base years down the road you wouldn't be shipping endless amounts of slop you don't understand, Fred Brooks taught us this half a century ago.
But it seems short-sighted to think that "years down the road" will look _anything_ like the present. I can't imagine a future (say, 5 years from now) where we are worried about the code choices we made in the past.
No, not in 2022. The models weren't good enough yet. I was looking at the trend line though. I gave word to our engineers that software would not be the bottleneck. The bottleneck was understanding what to do next.
Except in this case the label on the eggs says "Eggs may occasionally be poisonous. Users should not rely on eggs to be safe, and should carefully scrutinise eggs before and during cooking. Bob's Farm accepts no liability for injuries resulting from making omelets with our eggs."
The bridge is built. How do we test the load? Drive bigger and bigger trucks until it fails, note the weight, print the sign and rebuild the bridge the same way.
Probably synesthesia. I have known a few with many questions to them to understand better.
From my discussions, the senses do work together or as I describe it is convergence of inputs creating a specific harmonic ratios or chords that map to the input.
Numbers with taste is new to me. I know for some numbers have colors or play notes/chords.
I live near a park. I watch that drinking fountain. They bathe in there at times. They lift their dogs to drink from it despite. It breaks because they kick the button.
They are the losers, the educated affluent, the youthful of our society.
In Switzerland I did not see such issues with the drinking fountains which are everywhere.
It's certainly a different environment from a large American city, though we also have misbehaving youths and a few drug addicts that are perhaps homeless.
This is society. Its origins are people banding together to collectivize violence and its legitimate uses in order to protect themselves from the state of nature in which the strong take what they will and the weak suffer what they must.
