And, for those who don't know who the lucky 10,000 are, https://xkcd.com/1053/

How about an `extern` variable in C?

A million variations exist. I'm looking for a programming-language-agnostic concept. The closest you'll find are templating languages like Handlebars

Function arguments are unfilled holes. So are interface declarations.

Both are (fairly) programming language agnostic, but in the context of an editor, would become specific. The editor would have to know _how_ to represent them in the code’s language.

Delimited continuations? Though I'm not totally clear what you're asking for. Semantics or syntax?

Syntax. Delimited continuations would be a similar concept but for semantics

What about the animals that have been domesticated to be pets? It's arguable that their native habitat is the home at this point. Although, I do hope we stop capturing the animals which aren't domesticated (most "exotic" pets).

That's quite ironic

IIRC things like this were why so many companies were called ACME.

Soooo many companies in the French Yellow Pages with names that would translate to "AAA Plumbers", "A, A & Associates Locksmith Company"

ááattsistaawa means "rabbit, hare" for those who prefer real words (language of Blackfoot Indians, https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%C3%A1%C3%A1attsistaa-)
