Self hosting has never been easier and I imagine the average person has never been further from trying it. No one will ever get anywhere close to hosting this much sruff

Self hosting is mostly a hobby like home brewing beer or woodworking. It’s more accessible than ever but there’s still little incentive for the average person to do it.

The average user is much safer putting their photos on iCloud than a home server unless they are tech inclined and personally invested in keeping it secure and backed up.

wow, I hate that i now know how bad that is. its infuriating

Super Intelligence, courtesy of Donald Trump: https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2026/10/08/trump-ca...

You have to give credit where it is due: super intelligence is just straight up a better term. Broken clocks and all that…

No, it's not. It's a bullshit marketing term by a narcissist who wants to call everything he has a hand in "super" or "great".

The field had already settled on "artificial intelligence" (AI), "artificial general intelligence" (AGI), and "artificial super intelligence" (ASI), and while there are definite gray areas in the definitions, it was widely agreed that AI referred to the field as a whole, AGI was intelligence that was "general" in the sense that it was as good as humans in all domains, and ASI was intelligence that surpasses the best human experts.

Trump wants "SI" to replace all uses of "AI", which is simply stupid bullshit, especially given that current AI includes many levels of intelligence, most of which are far, far from "super".

No. its going to old people and health care

engineers have long been interested in woodworking as a distraction from work. its one of the many dream jobs/hobbys for engineers when they get enough money

Why would someone good at running a social media website be good at managing and developing ai frontier models

Because they have extra money to do whatever they want with. And data to use it on? Not that that is sufficient, but it helps.

I'm sure they will gladly sell us both

Because programming languages are the clearest way we can write down instructions for computers to execute without ambiguity.
