“Rule Number One: You may not use a single word an LLM suggests to you.”

So far so good…

“Those rethinks are load-bearing parts of your voice.”

Oops.

I like to think that was thrown in there as a joke... surely, for a piece like this.

edit: it was! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49753395

I looked into a bunch of things like this, but in the end I decided to just pay for a Boosteroid subscription (cloud gaming service). Works great.

Cloud gaming is incredible tech, I used GFN for a while and it was incredible.

HOWEVER, I will inevitably want to play weird stuff like "milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk", Pseudoregalia or Civ V Lekmod, which these cloud services do not offer.

The other alternative is "rent a VM" systems like Shadow Gaming, but they're much more expensive, and have much worse latency and streaming tech. Also the questionable practice of putting the credentials for my precious steam account in a random VM in some random data center.

Claude Auto was the push I needed to finally switch to running VSCode in a dev container. It’s a Microsoft VSCode extension that builds off docker, and it was surprisingly easy to set up. Took about 30 minutes, and I no longer have to worry about Claude using my ssh credentials or accessing files outside of the project. It’s completely transparent, too, the user experience is nearly identical.

Had a similar experience. I bought an ePaper display and a Pi 4 to run a calendar widget on. I got stuck because the open source project I was building off expected the previous generation of ePaper display, and the firmware had changed completely. I found the new firmware examples, but got stuck trying to get it to work. With Claude assisting we banged it out in two sessions of about 3 hours each.
