That's why I also go get a "poke around and look" checkup every year. The X-ray is to spot deeper things, but you can't do that every year without the x-rays becoming a risk factor themselves.
In the United States, it is routine to get your mouth X-Ray’ed every 6 months when you go in for a cleaning. Dental plans include these checkups at no extra charge.
That's what I was led to believe by my dentist when I asked. I just checked danish national guidance, and they say the dose of x-rays is so low the increased risk is incalculable. Instead they say the dentist should only ever use an x-ray if they find it medically necessary out of a principle of minimization.
So it sounds like it's the individual dentists judgment, and their organizing body says that they base it on the occurrence of dental problems in the population the clinics they oversee, with some adjustments based on patient age and risk factors.
So according to Danish authorities, you should be safe getting x-ray'ed every 6 months. They just don't recommend it, since it's a waste.
The graph makes it pretty obvious that the effects isn't real. The newy steady growth in ratio 1910-1950 is more interest, but even so, the magnitude of variations is tiny.
If anything, infanticide is likely the cause of distortion. Look at China's One Child Policy.
In addition, per OP's own source, Computer Eng and Comp Science have the highest Median Wage Early Career. That's a great trade for slightly higher unemployment rate.
There could be meta-faith, if you insert engineering into
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, march in one front [lockstep]. Whichever lags behind is drawn after. Whichever hastens ahead helps on the others...

The problem or nonproblem before (elite) software engineers were pointed at rather bespoke conjectures, depending on one's specific denomination, was that the frontier mathematicians got too far ahead of the others to effectively drag them along (hence Tao's recent fundraising attempt using his one-off compressed-sensing work)
There is also the Experience<->Understanding "wave equation" if you will, codified by the popular engineers' joke about how mistakes/bugs mediate the two
Imho what academia+industry really need are GLM-wielding plumbers cheap but capable enough to find these abstraction leaks between silos. One taxes these plumbers so brutally that their clients can get by on basic tokens (morally speaking, so as not to drive demand in the farflung silos of billions bottles and babes)
There were interdisciplinarian buzzwords but these did not live outside the grant proposal, and probably won't survive better under the reign of Pangram
A civil violation can result in financial penalties but not criminal penalties (prison)
