Automated vehicles driving by with eink licenspeplates?

And where is that mythical beast? Eu? China? Russia?

Uruguay I've heard. Costa Rica possibly.

Its basically capitalist planned economies in some part of the world, including cosplaying as markets and economies. Obviously there is no real competition when a superfund owns a whole economic sector.

I deeply dislike that answer. Its religous tainted by that utopian pseudo-religion ("Glutony punishes the sinners with infinite growth") and a template for the "soft authoritarianism" that is prevalent in the european union. As in: "We know better then you, we will reduce the size of the dice and nudge you to be better with acrylamids in baked and roasted goods- everywhere except coffee "

Synthetic rational religion even replicated hypocrisy in its own way. Cancer is just life going wrong. Its not avoided by being dead while alive.

And the seers voice shall bring them to tears

Actually if you tank them with sustainable fuel..

He is the man with a plan a certain ideology wants to see eradicated. His existence is a intro to what western society has missed out on while coasting on past success build by people like him. If you dislike him why not leave the west?

Getting Starship to be useful for Mars missions requires actually building industrial-scale Sabatier machines.

This is something he has known about, and talked about, for a long time; it's (apparently) why they're designed around methane.

However, we don't see any reports of work on such machines.

This is both bad for the environment here on Earth, and also an indicator that despite what he's been saying, Mars has been less of an interest for several years before he officially put the moon and space data centres ahead of it.

Moon v Mars seems to have more to do with what the primary customer wanted.

Starmind just happened to fit nicely with that and the current market desire for a lot more compute.

Starmind may indeed be entirely a cynical ploy to get investors banging on his doors. I think this is the only sensible reason for it, even. I really need to make time to finish that blog post…

However, merely switching from Mars to the Moon isn't by itself a reason for the complete absence of any public presentations about progress with industrial-scale Sabatier machines.

There's a lot of good use for industrial-scale Sabatier machines right now, on Earth. Use renewables to synthesise methane, the main component of natural gas: (1) Hormuz less important; (2) those gas turbines powering his ground based data centres look a lot less bad (still bad, but less bad); (3) methane-fuelled rockets look a lot greener; (4) can sell to any nation with a lot of renewable supply that wants to get into petrochemicals (though I suppose "petro" is a misnomer if it's not from rocks…)

Like, it wouldn't be entirely nuts to say this is order-of a trillion dollar opportunity, if someone got it right. At least, assuming the same playbook as the SpaceX IPO for TAMs, which I absolutely do consider to look suspiciously like they gamed a metric that allows such gaming.

A family is a autonomous unit, in theory capable of survival without society for a while. For those who marry the state to receive alimony from the taxpayer this independent union is a blatant declaration of war.

Eh most treatmant plants fish that out and sell sewage sludge to farmers. That sponge is in next years food.

Move fast and intelligent design things. We will update and redesign it downstream. Or just make it smart. Give it a LLM and it repairs itself. God, im that good.. best sim designer this side of believable...

Who added that apple add making porno noises.. it will ruin the fjords.

This is the only universe where you still make that comment.

You may be exactly right about that. All the more reason for all of us to take care of ourselves.
