The software still remains free, it's the registry that would become a paid service under such a model, that's what was proposed in the article. And even then, the registry would remain free for individuals, so it would merely be a price of convenience

I think it's a great idea and I hope someone inside the teams of popular registries sees this and they actually give it a go. I imagine the shitstorm of reactions that it's gonna cause from people who aren't even included in the "required to pay" group and I wish the registry maintainers strength to get through this

I wonder why they only support Apple platforms, citing CoreML. Doesn't Android have a similar framework, ML Kit?

We plan to make most our models available for Android and web too. Some are a bit harder to port to the different platforms and will take a bit longer to properly land on Android or web. Mostly sequencing (Voz, Clips, Title). Soon!

That bit of text looks pretty unremarkable to me, what makes you think that no one talks or writes like this?

I see it plain as day as well FWIW. Not just that section, but most of the headings.

The issue I have with it is that I can’t be sure whether a human actually double-checked anything. Writing in a “human” voice rather than robotic one serves as proof that someone actually bothered to really sign their name to the content. Otherwise I need to ground everything myself independently because the author’s reputation becomes meaningless if there’s no evidence they checked it.

I don’t have time or energy to get ground truth on everything I read. That would be exhausting and impractical.

This. Also, I think reading the exact same sentence structure, style and voice everywhere I go is getting mentally taxing.

Before I could read different articles, posts and emails on different topics from different authors and read a variety of ways of expressing things. Now it's just the same way of expressing a point and I think the lack of variety is what triggers the fatigue.

I assume you don’t use Claude a lot? If you interact with it on a daily basis, it becomes your second instinct to identify its writing. Anthropic models talk like they are penalized by making sentences flow naturally. "The X I didn’t expect" is basically a mandatory section of a Claude-authored blog post at this point.

Was it 4.5 or 4.6 that started using "load-bearing" all the time? Boy, the first time I saw that I knew immediately that was the Next Big Tic for Claude.
