I wholeheartedly agree that we’re in a time in tech that is unbelievably enabling and exciting. I’ve learned so much and built so much useful bespoke tools for myself over the past year and it’s only getting better.
I’m quite turned off by just how many grumpy people here have to shit on everything they possibly can.
It was nice to finally read a comment that is unabashedly positive.
I recently had a revelation when I made an extended qwerty midi controller app that permanently shows the states and functions of all keys including when modifiers are held.
It occurred to me that this is a wonderful way to design software: you immediately know the keyboard shortcuts because you’re already looking at them. I’m working on taking what I’ve built for the qwerty midi keyboard controller (which is built on hammerspoon) and making it just a generic interface for any kind of app.
If the end goal is navigating and controlling the app via keyboard shortcuts, so why not bake that into the design of the GUI itself?
One of the best Userscripts I ever made was for Amazon: It adds an explicit "results must include these search terms" input box as well as one to exclude results for particular terms.
Saves me SO much time when I have to find something on Amazon.
Have you considered making that into your own shopping website?
You don't need warehouses or delivery drivers - you can make it place an Amazon order to the customer's address through the customer's Amazon account. (All you have to do is ignore the fact that Amazon doesn't want you to ask for other people's Amazon passwords.)
