As someone who uses a USB equivalent to this piece of hardware (in my case, a Behringer UMC1820): having MIDI and audio inputs on the same interface is a nice convenience feature. Avoids needing to use up multiple ports on the host machine, and avoids a lot of the time synchronization issues that arise with trying to use multiple interfaces at once.
Thank you! You’re right, I didn’t discuss the MIDI implementation in the blog post. Right now it’s a little primitive but functional. Each MIDI message (e.g 3 byte note-on message) maps to 1 UDP packet. I have a simple script on the host side that interfaces these UDP packets with an ALSA loopback MIDI interface.
Got that from context; I’m just baffled, really. Seeing people call AI “clankers” is like watching a third grader call another “poopy head”. It’s just depressingly infantile.
Also of every request you send with your language's request library if you use default settings. And they can do it without you being able to detect it.
Wow, embark is very well done! I feel like there is some sort of solution space between notes, whiteboards, jupyter notebooks and Arcan FE that could make knowledge organization much easier, but it's such a huge space to even comprehend in the first place I can only ever hold part of the solution in my head.
I wholeheartedly agree with your comment and have thought a lot about how I would solve these problems. Considered founding a startup as well, but the market size is very unclear. I would say in theory, cloud-in-a-bottle already comes quite far. The only thing missing is another tier where imbue only provides you with a domain and a reverse-proxy so your home-server is reachable. Of course, their software would then also habe to manage the whole certificate lifecycle and DNS-challenge, but if it did, then you can have your server at home and not have to worry about how it manages to be reachable from the internet.
However, if I'm understanding you correctly, a solution like this would also be too much vendor lock-in for you, correct? If so, how independent do you wanna go? I think especially if you want people to be able to self-host from home, you will always need some proxy in the cloud. Or are you considering a DDNS setup?
