I have found that Debian BPO kernel + BPO ZFS works well, and since ZFS gives you complete snapshotting capability a broken upgrade isn't as much of an issue, rolling back with zfsbootmenu is easy.

zfsbootmenu looks very cool, thanks for sharing!

What usually happens to me is that I run a full package update, forget about it for a while, and then reboot. And then the server doesn't come back online - and I'm not in front of it to fix it.

LTS kernel pretty much solved this issue for me when I switched.

All you need to know is that for some reason you could buy foo.bar.com without owning bar.com directly from the registrar.

It is being retired because very few people use it. It kind of sucks but this is how domains work, it’s not real estate.

> Unlike zfs it keeps up with upstream kernel releases

Most normal users and especially servers have no reason to run latest upstream kernels

> 4. I say "we" but it's really only me (Peter Ullrich, peterullrich.com) and my dog (Bella, Labrador, beige).

I wish you the best, and I understand this might be necessary initially, but honestly I myself would never use a one man operation for anything I run in production.

Is GitHub really better? If you're a small project, you could always migrate to something else if this guy disappoints.

Sacrificing bandwidth for range and reliability would be a welcome change, but I’ve far passed the point where all news about Wifi just strikes me as marketing bullshit.

English and Swedish have tons of similar words since they are closely related, as do most Germanic languages. The older a word is, the more similar it usually is.

Then maybe you'll enjoy the swedish joke ”It’s not the fart that kills, it’s the smäll”

Fart means speed, smäll (smell) means impact or bang.

Double wordplay, not bad. Gives “Descartes before the horse” triple entendre vibes

> The sound is still very close

What do you base this on? Do you speak Swedish? Did you look up the phonetics?

They are no more similar than A and E in English.

”Many?” Teamviewer does not work like that which by far is the most popular.

What an excellent example of the most Russian thing of all: whataboutism.

Whataboutism is a word invented to deflect any criticism of western hypocrisy.

Like antisemitism, its overuse has rendered it toothless.

> Whataboutism is a word invented to deflect any criticism of western hypocrisy.

Factually false. It's a logical fallacy, because you're attempting to manipulate the audience without actually responding to the claim.

> Like antisemitism, its overuse has rendered it toothless.

Also factually false. "Antisemitism" has no agreed-upon definition. "Whataboutism" has a very concrete and well agreed-upon definition: deflecting a an argument by responding with a counter-accusation that is intended to mirror the perceived accusation.

Your whole comment as manipulative, though, so it's not surprising that you would get the definition wrong.

So it’s like ”Russophobia”? :-)

Eh, Russophobia is also funny, as it is typically applied to those that hate Russia, as opposed to those that fear Russia.

"Putin's apologist" as a smear on those who reject the mainstream narrative about Ukraine war (even if highly critical of Russia/Putin) is a better match.

Whataboutism doesn’t make the what about claim untrue.
