Barbiturate withdrawal can absolutely kill you, as it is the same process of benzodiazepines and alcohol withdrawals. The other issue is that barbiturates themselves can easily kill you due their MOA, and low therapeutic index
According to a HN post, and basically nothing else that I can seem to find.
Who knows, maybe he's still alive and posted the death notice himself. Dude is/was a compulsive liar. There's still to this day no actual evidence that he genuinely has passed away (unless I'm just unable to find it)
The XT came out in 1983, it was a real piece of shit by 1989 standards
Not to mention, the PC was a pretty, uh, "challenging" platform for video games. It amazes me someone managed to port something as graphically sophisticated as PoP to an 8088 with CGA.
PCs were incredibly expensive at the time, though, and barely useful. Most people didn't buy a new one every two years, despite the fast progress in hardware development. So many people, especially kids, were stuck with "ancient" hardware. I had friends who had an 8088 PC or an Apple II in the late 90s.
Yeah, this is exactly why I couldn’t stay on it. I already deal with GAD and OCD, and whatever benefits it had for the depression were directly counteracted by the return of acute anxiety.
It was truly hellish. Feeling like I had this energy that I needed to use, while also feeling so anxious that I didn’t want to leave the apartment.
I know it works really well for some people but I was definitely not one of them.
Benzodiazepines, and alcohol, can actually induce death if you withdraw too quickly
