From their own statement:

> Because of the decentralized nature of our work, this has to be spelled out quite clearly: Preparing for impending apocalyptic events should mean collective action and structural reform, not individualism and isolation.

Easy to talk like that when you don't have to live in the system.

Do they not? Although they live on a sailboat, they have to pay docking fees when at port. They are vegan, so they have to buy farmed food while at port, they can’t fish for it. They have to pay taxes like everyone else. They pay for hosting for their web presence. Their boat requires maintenance, so they occasionally have to buy materials for this which are industrially produced. They have to earn an income to fund all of these expenses.

Just because they get power from a solar panel and can sail to different places doesn’t mean they are “outside the system”. They are just living an unusual lifestyle with a light footprint. They still have a number of obligations to attend to. In fact, some of these obligations (particularly the ones related to the boat) are life-or-death, and much worse than what the average person deals with. You can’t hire a handyman to come patch your boat up during a storm.

Not a single thing you listed is actually living in a society.

Paying taxes? Buying food? Earning income? Paying a form of rent? I wonder what you imagine a society to look like.

Society is the people there not taxes and stores. They’re nowhere near the actual people.

They have an extremely large network of friends and supporters, and they often mention the people they meet while at marinas. People who live on the water have each other as neighbors.

It’s similar to people who live in their RVs full time. When they park somewhere (often for months) they have local neighbors and meet people. They may often meet the same people later in a different location.

Or you could think of them like long haul truckers, who have friends at their end stops but spend a lot of time traveling. Surely those people live in a society? What about salespeople who constantly travel between a few cities in a region? Or UK longboat dwellers? Bedouins?

Nomadic lifestyles, of one kind or another, have been a part of human history since the beginning.

Regardless, I’m not sure what your complaint is. Care to spell it out in a little more detail for me? You seem to think they don’t interact with people, but that’s not the case.

Imagine if the atom bomb was created by private companies about to make their IPO.

Are you able to fit an open MacBook Pro with nano texture finish into your pocket? If yes, you might have different problems (or benefits).

I think the reason they offer these options in the first place is the discontinuation of the MacPro and their remaining need to offer high end solutions.

I would seek advice from people who have a theory of why or why not they were successful. A lot of those results were happening in very specific contexts and usually should not be regarded as a blueprint, but as inspiration to whatever I do.

I want to see the number of gamers that tear the chips from the dead hands of hyperscalers to make up for the implosion of that market. If I had to guess, half of humanity does not have interest in dedicated gaming chips. Memory, that's another story.

The gpus will be too expensive and a lot of them are not even close to useable for gaming. Any consumer gpus maybe but I suspect that nvidia will be able to pivot more quickly producing consumer gpus again.

I secretly hope that Infantino goes ahead with it anyway. UEFA and others will form something new. Something that replaces the incredibly broken and corrupted FIFA with a de-facto and de-jure non-profit governing body.

Then you would have two corrupt organizing bodies.

Something similar happened with FIDE (chess) in the Kasparov years. I believe FIDE is still headquartered in a dodgy dictatorship in Central-asia-stan.

And I've lost count how many global boxing organizations there are, seemingly in competition with each other to minimize sporting legitimacy and financial transparency.
