I was just surveying the options earlier for DDR4 mobos with 8 dimm slots and pcie 4.0. Narrowed to the idea of a TRX40 and a Threadripper 3960X for ~$900CAD total (on ebay, every listing ships from China). Worth it or risky? Would be to drop in 8x16GB dimms from a couple old gaming boxes and use Strata with a 5070 Ti.

so you draw the line at smell-o-vision?

So what are your thoughts on tavern slot machines where legal? No chemicals but plenty of people who will openly tell you they wish they weren’t doing thus while they cash out a 90% loss and buy another beer to head back in for another round of punishment

Looks like some of GPD Pocket systems can have sim cards. But don't know how good the linux compatibility is.

If only they were like half the size.

M.2 modems generally can't do calls nor SMS, though. It's just data, AFAIK.

What about checking crypto libraries for gaps like the coldcard situation of RNG code is correct but not in the release build somehow?

That was such a stupid coding/code review/testing mistake. Finding it is not that impressive at all. It's nothing like finding a flaw in AES
