Unless they prepend something like, "summarise this, "

But they definitely wouldn’t do that.

Yeah, this would have quadratic cost, but something silly has to be happening to waste a noticeable amount of tokens on summaries

Wouldn’t they?

I just had a look, and they don't. It's really just a temporary fork of the conversation, so it's fully cached. But it does run every 30 seconds, so that is very bad especially if it's a subagent that's at 800k tokens.

And I don't really get the point of this feature, I've always found it super annoying that the main agent creates a subagent with the clear description of "Fix tile cache" for example, and then after a while it turns into something generic like "Running browser tests"

But hey, it's got USB-C and also supports UD USB-C (upside-down)

I get that BRICS is world-domination wise scary to the US, but I don't really think the rest of the world fears that sans the US's warmongering.

Tbh don’t really care which side is right (some of Lula's politics I like and other not). I’m just pointing out the mental gymnastics HN goes through to paint one group as “fascist,” while completely ignoring the grey areas that don’t fit their cleancut worldview.

None of the things you mentioned have anything to do with whether or not a candidate is fascist. No “mental gymnastics” are needed.

Right, but he's right to try to account for legal, as in currently allowed, cheating or misrepresentation of the people in a democracy.

Because the wealthy provide unlimited value back to the world?

If you have a gap of over 10,000x, then the most likely cause is that the system is broken rather than some humans make the world way better than other ones.

The median net worth of an American adult is about $200,000, The net worth of Elon is roughly ~1 trillion. That's a factor of 5,000,000x. A wealth inequality gap of 10,000x would be a great place to be compared to where the US is now.

The vast majority of that 1 trillion is being applied to productive means.

Buying elections is a destructive use of wealth.

> Buying elections is a destructive use of wealth.

Of course, that statement sounds reasonable. However, to make it concrete, who do you think bought which election?

I'd be very curious to see your example demonstrate what you mean by "buy".

Doesn't matter if the attempt was successful or not, or who did it. Money spent on advertising is a zero-sum game and is thus destructive. Money spent on bribes is negative-sum.

I can agree that ideally the only permitted way to influence and election should be via your one vote. And that there should be guardrails to prevent, detect, and punish the instances that are not permitted.

We would be much better off if a single person didn't dictate what productive means those would be applied to.

> We would be much better off if a single person didn't dictate what productive means those would be applied to.

To make it concrete, hHow do you think SpaceX should spend its resources differently than it does?

SpaceX is subsidized by public markets. Why do you think it was listed ? It was to extract cash from the markets. Its P/e is about 5000. It is operating via tax subsidy programs in billions of dollars.

> SpaceX is subsidized by public markets. Why do you think it was listed ? It was to extract cash from the markets. Its P/e is about 5000. I

At least get your facts straight. A quick search will reveal that SPCX P/E ratio is no where close to the absurd number of 5,000 that you're throwing around.

https://www.google.com/finance/quote/SPCX:NASDAQ

I was being generous remembering the not so distance past.. its earnings are actually negative this quarter EPS = -0.68 did you notice the negative number that means negative P/E way worse than that 5000

Not having any to begin with and instead hundreds of thousands of smaller businesses doing small business things with those would be a good start.

> Not having any to begin with and instead hundreds of thousands of smaller businesses doing small business things with those would be a good start.

That's silly.

You are advocating for either:

a) SpaceX should not have been started in the first place

OR

b) Now that it has made so much possible and is so large, it should be disbanded and the assets distributed to these hundreds of thousands of small businesses? You do realize that if you disband it, the shares would not be worth much, right? They only have value because they represent future profits from the SpaceX business.

How is owning stock productive?

The wealth is generally applied to productive means, it isn't being hoarded or consumed.

A yes, the private equitization of dental offices, old peoples homes, and veterinarians (and creeping into more and more niches) is making everyone's lives so much better and more productive.

> private equitization of dental offices

Owned in the end by the very same dentists, no?

73% of dentists own their own practice, so you are wrong.

Most states require that a dentist own the practice so PE essentially splits the business in 2 where a dentist (maybe the original owner, maybe a new dentist brought in by the PE) own hiring any dentists and the patient records, while an MSO owns the building, all other staff, contracts and cash flow rights. So sure on paper a dentist "owns" the practice, but in reality the PE firm owns everything that makes it a business and exerts a ton of control.

But sure, keep imagining PE is pumping money into the industry to buy nothing.

I referred to indirect ownership through owning stakes in the private investment fund(s) that owns their own practice.

Infinite nonsense. "some human make the world way better than other one" are you claiming that the wealthiest are better humans based on what? Why would accumulation of money make somebody better?

why do we care though? If everyone has a high base standard, what does it matter

Because money buys power, and a few people with too much power usually ends baldy. Especially when they're unelected.

Because of inflation. If there are people with astronomically more wealth than the rest of the population, they will push up prices. There is no such thing as a "high floor" in a system where there is extreme wealth inequality.

I don't see why that would happen. The money is being spent whether it's distributed to the masses and spent on food, or spent on a yacht. If anything it should be deflationary because the rich mostly don't spend their money, else they wouldn't be rich.

Because the 0.1% have an also-outsized influence on politics, and in making our world a better place in general (and they repeatedly fail all of us in both cases).

outsized? That vastly understates the direct and indirect influence they have

it makes people jealous

If robots are pedestrians you just need to convince ICE they are not true Americans

Used in the real world doesn't mean it's secure.

There's issues that are pretty fundamental with the black-box approach that the electronic ballot becomes. Paper and transparent ballots can be scrutinized pretty easily, but once you have a black box that might also be connected to the internet there's nothing you can really trust.

It sounds like your expectations on your neighbour are way too high. Especially since them doing "their" part on par with your expectations benefits mostly just you.

When your neighbour isn't as invested as you in maintaining the border or has other annoyances you are better off leaving some buffer zone that allows to isolate yourself from the border and whatever road, river, canal, forest or loud or busy place is at the other side.

You think CI and distributed builds aren't necessary if you change the code fast enough?

There's lots to improve in how we handle code, and losing the agreement on what the codebase even is sounds like an awful regression.
