It does seem to be less toxic resins, but I liken working with resin printers to dipping something in an open can of paint or glue. Even if it's nontoxic, it's still annoying to deal with.
We know what this looks like, over all of human history, and it’s not 300m people living comfortably on checks from the government.
We do need to do something, and soon, but “tax those guys a lot and send the proceeds to government services or pittance checks” isn’t going to cut it.
Wealth redistribution doesn't have to be 50% tax rate for billionaires for their current wealth you know.
If can be just factually and morally correct step of taxing given company for income from given country and thats almost it. Maybe close few biggest loopholes how to hide income while having massive revenues. None of the faangs operate like that, with such move their revenues and stock prices would fall down since part of valuation is based on continuing this tax scam/fraud.
This would spawn few hundred billions globally to start with. Of course tech bros et al would launch some massive PR counter-campaign also here, thats all fine and expected.
Will it solve everything? No but will set a better path for future while helping also right now massively. If you have kids and cared even a little what world they will inherit from us, this is how you build its foundations. Not hoarding money at all costs and fuck the rest since everybody relies on rest for existence and thriving.
Seriously though, I wonder why nobody really attempted to dethrone PDF yet. How hard can it be (famous last words) to design a document format that allows what people generally expect from a PDF, but without the multimedia and interactive parts that are dangerous?
Because the dangerous parts are not the multimedia and interactive parts. These parts are rarely used. Even if you remove these parts from your PDF reader it’s not a meaningful security improvement. Almost all exploits are in the boring 2D text/graphics/images parts.
You may have even more luck if your input gets injected into a prompt that gets executed by an agent having internet access.
Re security, there are many pdf viewers, so the rewrites exist, and some of them do not have the js execution engine and all that jazz that opens up all sorts of potential exploits.
instant at the authoritative server, but anyone querying through a recursive resolver could still get the old status until the ttl expires. what ttl would you use for this?
Doesn’t mean they’re not nice machines, I guess.
