Terminals and web browsers are our main UI drivers right, so yeah, it makes sense to have a super app that provides them both in the best way. Embdding a terminal inside a web app is annoying because of Ctrl-W and other issues, and embedding a web broswer inside a terminal is even more weird. So we wind up having Wayland compositors do the work to combine them in one environment.
I tried to do this with a simple wgpu + winit app, servo, and alactitty_terminal, and it kinda worked, but both terminal and web browser rendered poorly.
While the logo somewhat like the shape of the Star Trek franschise Starfleet logo, the small text reads 'Starship Troopers'-inspired, and to remind, in that Heinlein fiction human societies pride themselves in becoming authoritarian. That's the scary part.
An NVIDIA consumer GPU sells for 50+% or more than an equivalent AMD GPU. Because people are buying NVIDIA GPUs to run local models instead of AMD ones.
I did the same thing, I paid 50% more to get an 5070 Ti instead of the equivalent AMD.
This is probably good for gamers, AMD GPUs are not price inflating to the same degree as NVIDIA, because they are bad at LLMs.

AMD also deprecates cards and throw in wrenches for cards that are hot in used markets. Latest ROCm kind of works on MI50 but requisite files are taken out of just standard Ubuntu installation. They truly don't understand marketing.
They are actually great at LLMs but you need to invest in keeping up with community tuning efforts. But I am fine with most thinking they are bad at LLMs, because I keep buying more of them!

So the point goes far beyond 'social media despair', it goes to say that the entire culture is regressing.
It makes sense that if software turns to a commodity by AI, and models are also commoditized, then distribution is all that matters. Anthropic is therefore attacking other's distribution in order to protect its business. Perhaps they should focus on their own ways of distribution.
I think its unlikely we will ever run into any real copper shortages longterm. It is a pretty common metal across the world and if costs start to rise there are tons of copper mining areas sitting around waiting for the economics of mining to be profitable.
Copper price is up ~500% since 2000 btw, this is already downregulating its use.
Not sure what your benchmark for shortage is, but if we had similar price development with fuel people would've gone ballistic.
It's quite possible that this will further escalate over the next decades, because demand is continuously rising and mining/recycling is not keeping up with it.
I think we need more neurons in the human brain than parameters in this model for speech. I wonder what it says about the human brain vs LLM efficiency.
