Also the part where you have three meals a day prepared for you, children’s needs taken care of, laundry washed ironed and folded, house cleaned. Working “hard” as a billionaire doesn’t mean shit.
It's kind of already happening, Microsoft are slowly letting Windows die. Gamers go to either consoles or Linux. Microsoft buys up studios so that the games become console exclusive, attempting to lock Linux users out.
If Windows dies, Linux gaming will kind of go down with it. Existing games will continue to work under Wine of course but I doubt developers will do the upkeep to keep their games working on a dead platform.
Considering they just announced a laptop where the sole focus is running AI locally it definitely seems like they're not interested in letting Windows die. And anyway a lot of their money comes from enterprise where they rely on Windows to continue running some shitty old software that hasn't been updated in 30+ years. It's not going away anytime soon.

They don't need to, communities make mods to make the games continue to be playable. Dragon Age Origins needs a community-made patch to stop the game from crashing on modern systems.
And now with AI you don't even need a particularly technical skillset to do fixes like this yourself.
I have an agent pulling apart a game right now with a Ghidra MCP server. It's incredible watching it do in an hour what took me literal weeks before AI. I was never a reverse engineering rockstar but now I don't have to be.
Jesus, Epic shipped slop even without AI, imagine how bad it will be with AI. Contrast that with the game Jon Blow just shipped after 10 years of work, already highly acclaimed. No AI in sight, no mad hatter CEO trying to wring every last cent of profit from children.
Like the author but didn’t like this post. I was born in 2000s, how the fuck is it my fault that people were replaced by software? Why do I deserve to be punished? Have my generation not had a hard enough time, now they have even fewer paths to a good career.
If you’re talking about the AI models, yes, for now. However the adversarial nature of US vs China is in our favour, it puts better and cheaper models in our hands. We absolutely must not allow Chinese models to be banned or restricted. That’s exactly what they’ll attempt to restore the power imbalance.
Could you talk more about how you’ve used this technique? I want to start on a similar kind of AI-driven decomp project and I’m looking for any kind of edge I can get.
I used a similar methodology for https://github.com/emberian/don feel free to dig thru anything in there I think all the notes are in the repo itself... of course it helps having a game that was explicitly designed around networked deterministic lockstep. forces the agent to learn a lot of lessons from reality instead of my typing :)
Me too. I’ve known about Nix for a long time but resisted the idea of learning a new language just to manage my system. In retrospect, it would have been worth it, but now I don’t have to.
Oh my god, how pathetic can you be. Seriously?
