As far as I understand the backstory of the jihad this rule was caused not by machine minds being bad but (some) humans are very shitty.

It was very much both.

I concur with the misuse of the word "slop". But this is almost exactly how i setup my browser anyway and since I only do that on once i am nor sure how useful this is actually... maybe for setting up systems for others?

I find it most useful for a shared family computer with multiple users, but I also appreciate any type of config-as-code where possible

Multiple machines, multiple instances or profiles

Yeah, I was gonna say. These are reasonable defaults for a technical user and I do much of the same, but it's also reasonable for many users to want the features that are being disabled here. It's not slop just because the author personally does not want them.

I find it worrying because being super sensitive to stuff like that is usually red flag that the person is kinda into it - Senators in Bathroom stalls and all that (bonus if you get the reference).

But I think the person who directly contacted Microsoft about this was probably not the person who noticed it and brought it up on the Government side just the Person who was tasked with communicating about it so its good they remain nameless.

The article states that it was the government who remained nameless, not the person who brought it to Microsoft.

Given that this request was not related to national security, they really should publish the name.

I think they mean it was someone in the government who complained and that complaint went to their IT department, and it was the poor IT department who had to complain to Microsoft.

Or something like that. Basically, the person from the government who contacted them was the sad messenger and not the original complainer.

this links to one of these stupid endlessly loading back-button injecting garbage sites. Is this slop?

It's Boy Genius Report, which used to be decent but was sold to a media conglomerate, with predictable results as you can see.

unless someone fixes the issues with LLMs at a fundamental level those will all have the same kinds of issues as is described with OpenCode and they will all be horrendous.
