Not that well. Nevada is starting to have issues due to the lack of gaming and tourism. It's nothing like it used to be.

See that's the thing. They will likely limit other LLMs but leave their own access level.

Except they protect the same people running DDoS services...

No they did, but they changed their mind once people spoke out against it. They thought free speech absolutism would be good for PR, but it turns out that the general public hates bad people enough not to care.

This is BS. One quick google and selecting a result from the first page: https://zeusstress.com/

Surprise! It's on crimeflare.

KiwiFarms, 8chan, The Daily Stormer all got removed for public backlash... didn't know Cloudflare still hosted this kind of BS. Thanks.

Japan is quite a bit different in that regard since they have family registries. Their issue tends to be death records.

Don't even need compute onboard, just on site. And something I control and own.

Except this is settled case law. LinkedIn tried and lost against scrapers.

That was a case of scraping explicitly public data that was already available to the general public without any extra effort.

Which is exactly what Twitter is?

no twitter requires a login

Which anyone can make

I think that this is different because Nitter uses real X accounts for scraping, rather than publicly available data.

That is still a form of publicly available.

Explain to me why that matters at all in an ethical sense. Especially given the scraping / pirating that's gone on by all of these companies in the last number of years.

Who cares this is a subthread about legal advice.

When have ethics ever mattered in law?

The war has already been declared. It's just another battle.

If I hit something like that I am just gonna close the tab and move on with my day.

If it's something really important then I am going to very loudly complain to their support until I can bypass it.

I had my first "scan this code with your phone" last week. Nope. Close tab and never go there again.

It's simple, if I can't access old.reddit without a login, then I don't access reddit at all.

My money is it won't be long before old reddit is deprecated altogether.

as an old.reddit user i'm surprised it's still up at all. they are surely losing money on people like us

Likewise. I can't help but wonder how many people they're expecting to switch to enshittified reddit or to log in after this change. Maybe 1% will?

I'm not installing a browser plugin. I'll just take a vacation until there's an xcancel-like solution.

"On Monday 24th August at 8PM EST, we received at letter from X Corp. asking to cease and desist the service XCancel."

funny that :(

It's like just the old reddit accounts that use it, and they just don't care about us anymore. It's all about that ad money and tracking.
