As I understand it they just stop there. They pallet stuff up and sell it in bulk to someone who then proceeds to part ways with it on eBay or something like that. I think most of the mass market companies do this. Costco is well known for this.
At the online retailers I've worked at (not Amazon) returned items get split into a small number of groups.
A person returns a $5000 RTX 5090? A manager will be paged, who will carry it over to the high value items cage, in full view of the CCTV.
A person who returns a $5 bike light? And that person has also spent $$$$ over the years with a 0.5% return rate? Straight on the pallet of mixed returns without even opening the package.
Medium-value returns and customers with an eyebrow-raising return rate get a medium amount of inspection.
> *Addressing abusive behavior toward our models*
> We’ve added a prohibition on sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior toward our models. The policy update is meant to apply only in extreme cases, where users repeatedly act cruelly toward our models, with no discernible purpose. It does not apply to common versions of user frustration, pushback, dark creative themes, or model testing and research.
Maybe I’m missing something, but couldn’t you then go buy another $300k house and have $600k sitting in a bank account?
Or maybe you’re saying all the homes increase in value by 3x and your income didn’t keep up? Clearly many people did see their incomes increase if there is a market for such homes…
It doesn't seem all that different. Cops use these cameras to stalk ex-girlfriends, target political foes, and perv on the public at large. The public watching them hardly seems worse.
I do agree that we just shouldn't have this kind of mass-surveillance in general, and I think that's kind of the point of this particular endeavor.
"have" is doing most of the work here. Most EVs have a small 12v battery to power 12v components. But the driving the car to the store part is done with lithium.
This seems to be the model for “self” driving cars too. Good luck keeping attention during that ten thousandth time it navigates something tricky and suddenly needs immediate intervention.
