I built a web framework like this: https://github.com/alehlopeh/hallu

Yes people spent that much for a TV in 1997.

Not as a median, they didn't.

Right? I was there. My family had a tv. We didn't not spend the equivalent price of a honda civic on it.

You can't get a Honda Civic for $4k now. And you couldn't get one for $1.9k in 1997 equivalent dollars[0]. Perhaps you're thinking second hand. And forget that a 35" Sony CRT-TV was $3.8k in 1997 (2x average sale), or a 42" plasma was $23k (more than 12x average sale). Not everyone bought/replaced a TV around the time.. continued with their 25" 1992 screen.. and they were smart if they survived until ~2005 when prices drastically shifted.

I'd like to present a newspaper insert from Circuit City in 1997 that advertised the televisions they offered: https://web.archive.org/web/20261025051358/https://i.ebayimg...

Front page at https://web.archive.org/web/20261025052016/https://i.ebayimg...

A 35-inch Sony TV was $1.4k, or ~$2.9k today.

25-inch GE sets were $219, or ~$458 today.

And the original comment was the "median price of $4k".

Yep. And to be justifiably curt: It's fucking bullshit.

At best, it's deliberately manipulative. At worst, it's a pack of lies.

The median bullshit quotient here is: Festering.

A “dog-eared corner” in fact. The readme is painful to read if you have an aversion to Claude prose.

fwiw that is the standard term for that kind of fold (to the extent that it has its own wikipedia article), but I agree that the claude prose is gross.

I only skimmed the README, but I didn't notice any Claudisms.

I could read it comfortably, whereas usually I can't make it through even a paragraph from an LLM.

It's chock full of Claudisms!

> The room is ray-traced, and one desk lamp lights all of it.

> The first login draws the room once: a few seconds on a GPU, longer without one. After that it starts at once.

> Nothing here is a symbol for a thing on a desk.

> each is drawn to look like the real thing set down there

I could go on...

Supermarkets are just agriculture for normies. Look ma, no subsistence farming.

No argument from me. Most people frequent supermarkets, not farms.

Apple is the only big tech company that is not EXTREMELY incentivized to sell your data.

not the same as collecting your data, especially with ads.

Use your work google account

Apparently that finding was itself found to be incorrect. The article doesn’t specifically debunk coherence as the mechanism behind photosynthesis, but it does imply that the real mechanism was discovered to be something else.

Sorry, but what’s “install a plugin” in rails? That’s not a thing; not even a thing someone who’s ever worked on a rails app would say by mistake.

How certain are you about that? https://guides.rubyonrails.org/v2.3/plugins.html

Back in the very early days you would have used script/plugin install (svn url)

Here's one of my mirror repositories migrated from SVN into git. https://github.com/jaggederest/acts_as_voteable

iOS has this functionality built in.

He clearly meant getting married has no friction, while getting out of a marriage has quite a bit. Presumably there’s friction in the marriage otherwise why would they get divorced.
