When you read the article you’ll see it gives numerous examples. Eg “The Rust version doesn't maintain 100% backwards compatibility, for example it drops the CSRF token so that caching is easier”
This particular quote doesn't make any sense. This is not what "backward compatibility" means. Is there a bug or does it just do thing differently so benchmark is not "fair"?
> You could dream all you want about how you would write better version of claude desktop. Fact is: you didn't. And you never will.
I already did, actually. I work in an LLM startup that produces small models for specialised purposes and I wrote our frontend interfaces, which are vastly superior to both Codex and Claude's interfaces. Unlike OpenAI and Anthropic, we are profitable, turning 8-digit revenue with zero outside investment. We have complete ownership, without tens~hundreds of billions in expenses and debt. Excellence in software still has a place in the world, even if the VC darlings get most of the attention, because at the end of the day consumers and enterprises alike will pay for software that truly works well.
I was reading a post about the life of a congressman and it's actually horrifying, on the level of the stores of salarymen in Japan who sacrifice everything for the company.
For me personally being famous is a curse already, pile on top of that the endless fundraising, constant travel, the reality that you're a tiny cog in a huge party machine, and it's a recipe for only attracting the type who has a plan to parlay it into something else - a higher office, a lucrative career in lobbying, outright corruption, etc.
We're not going to get good government without addressing this issue, and we can't because of another issue, ad nauseam.
We got strictly better version of application for cheap. What is there even to complain about?
