Why are you using two different accounts in this conversation? Do you have one per device?

I just happened to log into this particular acct on of the laptops I use and never bothered to switch to the account I normally use.

What was cringe about Oppenheimer? I bought the movie in order to watch it but felt disappointed, and have only seen it once.

Mainly the scene where Oppenheimer randomly has sex during the questioning. Could maybe also do without some of the other parts where he slowly zones out for no reason.

In what way has it helped? Is the settling of the mind in open-awareness reducing competition and distraction, or are you doing something more akin to absorption / cultivation practices?

it has helped in that I can visualize more clearly and with better control, than I could before.

do you practice?

This was the original explainer that got me interested in this stuff!

At first I was frustrated by this comment, having a fair amount of Lisp experience failing to grok the examples. In less than one minute I was able to locate, download and install the latest Racket and was in a REPL. There really are no excuses.

This was a wild ride. I'm torn on whether this feels like the Reader is bloated/polluted or whether this is the coolest numerical parser I've ever used. You can really do a lot to coerce the these numbers just by inserting an {o,s,e,i,b,#} into the number, with different semantics depending on the position of the character.

Somewhat overwhelming, I can only hope there's some elegance underlying it all...

There are books that I read every decade or so, and there is always new insight. Sometimes I will identify with an older character and see the entire story through their eyes.

Often times an interesting novel will prompt me to study the cultural context independently.

There was still tremendous value in exposing myself to Dostoyevsky as a teenager. I have observed myself make the same mistakes as his characters, blinded in the moment by emotion. He had so much insight into human nature - but even if forewarning doesn't prevent us from folly, it can highlight a path to acceptance, repentance or redemption that otherwise may take a lifetime of self-reflection.

I don't mean that in a religious context, if that matters.
