I’m curious to see where this goes. Right now, when it comes to tech, Apple is basically a guarantee of quality. I honestly don’t know anything more reliable.
New CEO is the former head of hardware so hopefully quality shouldn't decline.
I say hopefully despite not been an Apple user (I have a couple of ipads, they are good for reading/watching documentaries) for the most part but I like that they exist, they force the PC world to compete which is good as a consumer.
I think for that to happen we may need to replace one or two VP’s. But hey, maybe in the next MacOS Apple has used Claude to work through all the bugs and deferred optimizations.
Nvidia buying Hugging Face would give them even more control over the AI ecosystem. The big question is whether Hugging Face could remain truly neutral once it’s owned by a chipmaker with plenty of competitors.
Man, you really got lucky they didn’t throw you in jail. Anything related to national defense is pretty scary. Do you think you might get some kind of reward for exposing this vulnerability?
You never know in Germany. Jail time might still be looming.. after some 3-5 years of delay because the telefax machine at the public prosecutors office is currently broken (and not even for DNS reasons!)
I don't want the miss the young girls skills but she is no security researcher but in the eyes for her target simple a hacker.
And I would say too that she got lucky. It would not be the first time that inexperienced young persona have to suffer the consequences even of their well intended actions.
AI has already made its way into a lot of areas, like hiring. People use AI to pass all the tests for IT positions, while HR uses AI to go through those resumes and pick the right candidate. So basically, one AI ends up getting hired by another AI. Do I even need to point out that in this situation, people are just gradually stopping to think for themselves?
The current hiring process is a good example of the AI Arms Race that Cory Doctorow was writing about recently. https://pluralistic.net/2026/08/10/deep-state-wopr/#abelard-... - It's also a good example of a multi-polar trap. The rules of the current game assure everyone looses.
Ultimately, it’ll be up to individual companies. For most of them, though, a four-day workweek probably won’t make much sense if they have to pay the same salaries - it’s just not that profitable for the employer. That said, I’d personally love to have more time for the people close to me and, honestly, just live life a little more fully.
I don’t know, I think it’s not that black and white. People who genuinely live for their work will probably keep coding because they enjoy it, but if they need to use AI to be more productive, they’ll have to adopt it. After all, people invented the wheel because they were lazy and wanted to make things easier and more profitable. I think AI is just another wheel...
