Eh... get protection plan, or trade up every year for big discount on the next flagship. Or with AT&T plans you are getting a "free" phone fairly often if you don't intend to leave the carrier for a few years (most people wont). The parent comment you replied to makes some assumptions that you have to spend full price all at once every year which is false. Also, there's almost always a deep discount on Pixel phones around most holidays.

You sound like you spend a lot of money on phones, and what for? By the way, there are $100 phones - $300 isn't ultra budget. I tend to use $300 phones for about five years; they come with some excess performance when new that allows that.

Agreed. I think they purposely looked for a reputably difficult task for a benchmark between their models, without high expectations beyond that.

Yes but Google OAuth is a nightmare if you want to "publish" your client so that anyone can use it. If only you use it, you can add yourself as a test user. Just know your access token expires super fast and you will have to frequently re-auth. Its crazy annoying.

An important distinction but I have taken pics of pics, and sometimes its hard to tell I didn't take it directly. So now, its hard to tell I didn't directly take the photo AND its got the stamp of approval.

Can you describe what your local DB looks like and how you interact with it with Claude? This seems interesting, a skill or something with clear rules becomes the app logic and Claude the interface?

I've found skills/rules etc become cumbersome.

I built a few workflows around a notes db in aws, a telegram bot to send quick notes w/o keeping claude up, zotero connectors for literature tracking, etc.

Nothing really beats just "organize this folder and keep track of notes that I share". It'll invent some markdown + tags and that's good enough. Easy to overthink a list of names + maybe .jsonl entries of encounters + maybe a list of factoids. If you need phone access, /rc works fine
