In the meanwhile you can try this temporary fix: Go to Developer Options->Apps>Background Process Limit and change the limit from Standard to "at most 4processes" [1]
To think greed is some innate human trait seems to not be greatly substantiated by evidence on early human behavior. To see what we call greed all around us in market economy is only proof how we're all drilled from early childhood onwards to exhibit this behavior of greed, in accumulating money to survive, to archieve social status and approval etc. Drastic changes the economic system, and the very behavior set we are all programmed into, would more than likely regulate the behavior of greed. Though obviously that is extremely unlikely to happen.
Google controls Chromium to the extent they can impose changes like manifest v3 and while some forks like Brave will try to circumvent such changes, it will eventually become too costly or incompatible to maintain.
It is kind of the same daydream as the Windows 11 debloaters have that if they just keep doing that, everything will be okay. That is until Microsoft implements features they can no longer fully disable, like recall, or just exercise their control to revert any changes at will.
The best approach to combat this is to cause as much headache as possible: bombard them with 1-star reviews, contact news sites, post this on social media sites snd contact Paypal's support.
True. But when the Volkswagen block was publicized a lot, last time I checked the number of stars didn't even decrease by 0.1 (even though there were a bunch of negative reviews). Admittedly, PayPal probably has more GrapheneOS users than VW, but with VW negative reviews could have made a serious dent.
Pirated copies seem like a blackbox of potential malware, even if virus scans fail to find any problems (and they often give 10-30% false positives on most keygens/cracks). Even if the code is hosted in github, there has been plenty of cases of malware/viruses being hosted there too.
