the transition from waste gas to wasted gas.

Clearly from context they meant every android device not every device.

If it's a complicated but narrow problem then regardless of the prompt its possible that Claude will always converge to the same solution type from its training data. So it will generate different version of the same code that have the different implementations of the same procedure that 'works' but is incorrect in some subtle way.

I likewise have about 4 good hours of thinking work capacity in a day. But even finding that can difficult because you have to navigate all the trivial non-thinking admin tasks, meetings, forms, approvals, and other soul-sucking semi-work which does not progress a project, but yet a project can exist without. Management will always find a way to fill up every last minute with this category of non-thinking semi-work so its a fight to even find a little window to do the hard thinking work.

So far as I've seen, the laws don't apply to AI companies. They do what they want.

Indeed, the question not whether its illegal, but who has more political power to maintain/change/ignore the law. Plumbers/electricians or companies that want to 'disrupt' things with low-wage AI-assisted labor. History tells us that any solution with lower costs will win that battle no matter how shitty they are.

The next generation will grow up where AI was always a thing. I do not think it the existence of that easy button is going to lead to cognitive capability improving (at population levels, individuals will of course vary). That more we can offload to machines, the more we will.

The problem is might see the solution is to not have such laws in the first place if they are not enforced. But another solution is to give the government more and more and more enforcement power which will, eventually, be used against the people instead of for them. Just as bad is all these enforcement people have to continually justify their pay so the bar for what constitutes an infraction starts dropping in order to keep the prosecution rates up.

They send a message asking to see you when you have a moment. In office settings I ask people things when I see them getting coffee and am likewise asked things myself.

This is just our energy conservation system in practice. It happens every time we experience and easier/better way of doing something. Another version of this headline could have been "Experiencing VIP treatment for just 10 minutes erodes your ability to tolerate the normal shit you have to put up with"

I can’t tell if you’re defending this as good or just hypothesizing about the underlying cause but “appeal to nature” is one of the many freshman-level logical fallacies that seem ubiquitous in AI hype circles. Just because it’s what our animal brains do, doesn’t mean it’s going to be good or advantageous to our current evolutionary context.

Our energy conservation system also encourages us to eat as much high fat, high sugar food as we can get down our gullets, but that turns out to be a big problem for modern humans.

I wasn't making a value judgement of it being good or bad. More of a 'well of course' kind of response.

True. I can no longer fly coach since I got used to the first class experience.
