When the "new" C64 was first announced I was really hoping they would add a physical switch on the back of it that would let you switch between using it as a computer and using it as a keyboard to drive your normal machine.
Some meta keys could get a bit wonky, but I'd snap one up in a heartbeat!
Yeah, I’ve actually used that keyboard before. It has a bit of a hollow feel. I really love 8BitDo’s game controllers, but I've always found their keyboards to be a bit lacking.
My other big issue is honestly that super "in-your-face" 8BitDo decal at the top. That’s the kind of thing that takes away from the whole C64 aesthetic for me, and it really should have been placed on the bottom.
I'd love to see Keychron do a C64 themed wireless 75% mechanical though.
I think they still sell the one from the previous owners that's an Atom-based PC in a beige breadbin. There are ways to use it to drive your workstation.
Not surprised that the Apple Vision division is getting hit. With Ternus coming in, he will both be wanting to show to investors that the hard cuts can be made, but also use it as a chance to clear out some of the lesser products while saving face for the company.
I suspect we might see a 3rd revision of the Apple Vision but I'm not sure there will be a 4th unless there is a significant change to the overall product.
As many said when it first came out, it is brilliant technology but it has struggled to find an question for it to answer.
I'm not surprised that even decades later they have not recovered. It is like old growth forests on the land, once you clear them it can take centuries to recover.
That makes sense. I also think that we are at the point where maybe the expectation of a yearly refresh on everything should be reconsidered. They can end up on a Tick-Tock schedule when the Pro/Max/Ultra can be done every second year.
Absolutely, I am in a hold pattern for the next few years. I suspect in another 3-4 years you will be able to build an absolutely stacked machine at a reasonable price. Probably won't go back to what was before but it will be decent.
At the time when they killed Windows Phone they had a $7 billion write off and that was huge. A decade or so later they would buy Activision for $69 billion without blinking. I would happy swap those in an instant.
It felt like once they dropped mobile, their whole direction become misguided. Also UWP made sense when there was also a mobile/tablet side to it, could even deploy those apps to the Xbox and it kind of worked. But then they kicked out that supporting support and suddenly they got working on trashing what good Windows still had.
