New account comes in to insinuate support about government taking over Musk’s businesses. Hmm.

Ok, I will commit to having the same position, is my account too new as well?

Same here. I think there are many “elders” who would rather avoid billionaires shaping democracies into dictatorships for convenience.

Of all things, how is this the most reasonable, even-handed disagreement in this thread?

Because that's how things work now. But also, no disagreement, the gooning is absolutely in the 6-8 hours not the 5 seconds of joy joy.

A dancer dressed in a robot costume was not being played off as a robot, and is not evidence of cables, nor is it evidence of a tendency to fake demos.

It’s strange that people need to convince themselves that this is fake.

I think it was a real demo, but I share in the skepticism that this is something that could reach the market. How big is this cold gas container? What happens to it when it gets in an accident? If the car has dirt and debris under it, what is the risk to people/property around it when the trusters turn on?

10 years from their initial offering of the roadster, I'd like to see them release a well functioning, cool looking car. Why are they spending time/energy trying to make it fly?

All that info is out there. The one that thrusts backwards is 200 litres at 10,000 PSI and takes up all your boot space.

The one that thrusts downwards removes the front passenger seat for another 400 litre tank. I don't think there are any pictures of that though.

I personally would find it scary sitting next to a huge 10,000 PSI pressure vessel but there you go.

They will not attempt to make it legal to use on normal roads, but intend to try and certify it to be in a road legal car but only usable while not on the road.

It also takes like 6 hours to fill and can be used one time per fill for a single use. It's a party trick for sure.

yeah... I want to see the crash test videos. If someone is driving around with this in their trunk I'm staying away.

Just look at crash test footage of LPG or hydrogen powered cars.

Oh wow, do they have 200 litre tanks capable of generating 10,000 psi?

The H70 standard for hydrogen cars is 10k psi and the tanks for it are usually ~140 liters (depending on the particular model), so very comparable in that aspect. They don't generate the pressure, something has to have pumped it into the tank as seen here, and keep in mind they are hydrogen rather than air.

LPG, no - the pressures are much lower (but also still pumped in and significantly reactive).

Dangle the shiney thing to get everyone’s attention and sell the hell out of the very normal thing. This is basic startup marketing and say what you want about Elon, but he owns this skill, it’s why he’s the worlds richest person.

Well... It's Musk. He's been known to fake stuff before. I don't think this was fake in the sense that the gppp thinks it is. But I do think this is fake in the sense that it can't be done practically or safely outside of a completely controlled environment and that makes this a nice demonstration on the order of a Cirque du Soleil or some magician's act but it has nothing to do with actual vehicles.

I see nothing strange about questioning the reality presented in a highly controlled on stage demonstration of a literal rocket car.

Meanwhile I find it strange that people don’t apply any level of critical thinking when shown a demo like this.

It looks like there are 3 alleged incidents, not 1,000. That figure is the number of total Robotaxis.

Maybe the agent swarm passed its “warmth” eval.

The element can’t render until it’s closed, presumably.

Html partial streaming is a real thing, presumably

maybe I'm just wrong here? If the tokens come through this text could still be optimistically turned bold until happens.

For elements that manage layout and drawing things like these explainers, though, it's hard for me to imagine how that would work. My immediate thought would be to an abstraction over it, which is what it sounds like they did.

They could also just be creating all the html elements using javascript (i.e. document.createElement, document.body.appendChild, etc) and streaming that into a repl line by line.

That's not how html works. The html parser is by definition streaming.

Which industry and what is counted as an injury here?

The warehousing industry, and it is counting all "serious" injuries (which basically means an injury that puts you out of work for any amount of time or requires you to be reassigned to a different job).

Not defending any malicious behavior but is it at all possible Amazon is more honest in their reporting compared to others who may lose income by reporting certain incidents?

Why would they be?

FroogalMap?

Cool idea. I hope this helps people.

I hope so too, Google goes after any name that remind people of their name with similar service.. so Froogal / Foogle map was off the table.. but I love the name, I wish I can use it T-T
