In the past, I've engaged privately with a few of the Reddit users who are linked to elsewhere in this thread[2], and realized they aren't interested in actually talking, only proving they are righteous, and I am evil. There's a saying I've found applies to those one-way relationships: Never wrestle with a pig: You both get dirty and the pig likes it.
Therefore I ignore those threads now. I have enough on my plate trying to be a good father and husband (failing often, but a little less each day!), learn more about the world and people around me, and share what I learn with other people in what ways I can.
The main reason I started HomelabFest is to bring the homelab community together, in person. Get people (myself included) away from their monitors and phones, and into real human relationships. No matter who you are or where you come from.
[2] Note that I don't call out individuals for tarring and feathering in public. A couple times in the past I have used a name in reference to a movement or a poor business decision, and I immediately regretted it. Reducing someone to a label or branding them for one poor decision is a quick way to dehumanize the person. Every person deserves love and dignity.
There’s no point trying to have nuance here with these people. The blue hair brigade aren’t looking for equal treatment, they want everyone to out of their way to accommodate them and finding someone convenient to target like this is a thrill for them, I am sure.
If they really cared about your private beliefs why not go further, does anyone think they vet the religion of their doctors, dentists, garbage men? Does their barista pass a written inclusivity test before they’ll get their business?

Comments like this is why people don't want to support homophobes and are pointing out the bigotry. It's people like you that make others feel unwelcome. Yes, people vet their doctors when possible, if a business has a Trump flag I'm not going to enter. People are just looking for equal treatment, what accomodations are being asked of, even? You're the unequal treatment people want to avoid, this right here. The equivalent to what you're doing right now in the previous generation is screaming at black people for sitting in the same side of the cafe as you. You come out here with insults for asking if it's okay for certain people to attend based on the organizers established beliefs against that group of people.
How so? I absolutely dont care at all what anyones religon, sexuality, race or gender is. No one gets special treatment from me, Im very pro equality. What you want is not that tho. Im not the one with issues here. If you don't see the irony in calling for boycotting business based on political preferences while accusing me of somehow being equivalent to racists you are so far gone I genuiely dont think you could even find help.
You're slinging insults based on people's identity. There's no irony in being liberal. Hating racists isn't a passtime for fun, it's necessary to a liberal society. Which you obviously don't believe in, even though you claim to, based on your comments here.
