There are people today driving 40 year old vehicles. Or 60 year old vehicles. I even saw a model A at the grocery store lot once. There will be used cars for me.
Ehh. I'm still going to own a manual transmission car the rest of my life. New market isn't marketing to me going forward so I just won't participate in it. I'm sure there will be a million likeminded people keeping these puppies going as they've done.
Most people i know having old cars also have at least 1 modern car. The main reason they drive old car is the feeling. Either their childhood dream, or just nostalgia. "Modern car suck" is not on their top 5.
Same. Was just discussing modern safety features and over reliance on the same with my son and telling him he will learn and test in a manual transmission.
New cars are a want not a need. Well designed properly maintained cars can last a long long time. I ran into an old guy at my local coffee shop who has 550k on his 240 DL. Had to double take to make sure it wasn't klicks instead of miles. Chatted to him a bit, engine and transmission are all original and he gets notes on his car regularly with phone numbers of people who want to buy it.
In our house we have two Saturn SLs at 100 and 130k, a Saturn SW at 200k and a Sienna at 270k. Rounding it out a 2006 and 2016 DL650 V Strom w 66k and 16k.
I cringe at so much new car bullshit. Death of distraction free tactile interfaces with knobs and buttons, and where the fuck is the fucking parking brake?
To say nothing of the tradeoffs that come with an older vehicle (safety and pollution).
