Free speech doesn't make the government not authoritarian. It's not binary either.

That's true, it's a spectrum. And the US has wayyy more free speech than even Great Britain.

I'm a fan of Snowden, but suggesting that we're living in an authoritarian state because he's in exile is a stretch, IMO.
