This whole rant hinges on a supposition that current laws are somehow perfect and just and complete. They are not (I really don't need to prove it, because if I'm wrong, then all parliaments of the world can resign tomorrow). And that's what people are subconsciously protesting about - the sheer injustice and naked corruption under the guise of "but it's lawful". Give me a break.
