Domestic abusers need to be in prison until they can decide to stop being an abuser, full stop.

Likewise people who abuse welfare benefit programmes and steal food from their own children in order to trade it for cash.

There is simply no excuse for that, period, and it doesn't help anyone to tolerate it or be lenient on it.
