It's a solved problem until you want to display the local user name, make queries through OS name resolution service not Go's custom from scratch DNS implementation. Try accessing a system on mDNS that's not on a global DNS server and your nice statically linked Go app doesn't work anymore.

It is hopeless. There is a reason why systemd-resolved exists and there is a good reason why people say that only way to sanely interact with a Go program is through a network socket.
