In US, deed is public (grantor name, grantee name, property id). That’s probably how the scammers knew that you are involved in a recently recorded deed, and offered to send you a copy if you pay them.
When my parents closed on a house, me, and all of my siblings, regularly and illegally got scam/spam calls for my parents' home. We are not on the deed. We are not involved in the transaction in any way.
Also, don't buy a car, either; that also generates a significant volume of incoming scams & fraud, although most of that is in the snail mail. (But "at least" there I am the person in the transaction … I guess?
