Genuine question: what does Keynote do that PowerPoint or LibreOffice Impress doesn't? I'm a bit out of the loop and just use Typst for presentations now, but I'm not suggesting it as an alternative to Keynote for anyone who doesn't mind a compilation step.

If PowerPoint is sufficient, it (mostly) works on Linux now: https://github.com/Tombert/office365_flake

Yep! It actually made the front page of HN a few days ago :)

It supports Office 365 and Office 2024 Home works as of about two days ago.

I think it would require very little if any effort to get Home and Business working but the license for that was too expensive (though pull requests are welcome!)

Currently limited to stuff that can be activated on Microsoft’s website. I tried very hard and was ultimately unsuccessful at getting Office 2024 Pro Plus working from a gray-market key I bought on Groupon, because the MAK activation stuff appears to depend on a lot of stuff that Wine/Proton doesn’t implement. Again, pull requests are welcome if someone here figures out how to do it.

Tangential, but I've found something LLMs are actually ridiculously good at is making LSP servers.

I couldn't find good TLA+ bindings for Neovim, so I got Claude to hack together an LSP server for it [1]. It works shockingly well, and it only took about an hour of arguing with Claude to do it.

I find it's not terribly good at actually writing TLA+ (with some very recent tests with Fable), so I'm not completely useless yet.

I did run Awesome for awhile and I liked it, but I never used the Lua config for the most trivial things so it never got in the way of anything.

I never found that Sway too annoying to just use the shell commands to grab/modify the current state of Sway (https://github.com/tombert/rs-swanbar) and just use a "real" programming language to actually do any kind of programming logic. To each their own!
